1/1
First scorer for us, a defender. Let’s go do cashin.

Ah. I know what happens here. Warne plays the incorrect formation at home twice in a row. A formation that would happen to work perfectly fine away. But, of course, rather than recognising that his formation would work much better away and persisting instead he changes it and puts out the wrong formation away.
I expect warne to play 5-2-3 and go all out attack leaving us exposed to breakaway goals and therefore we will concede at least once and score a maximum of one.
fwiw, I think the mistaken formation will be:
wildsmith
Centre backs: cashin + fozzy + one of the new centre backs
Wing backs: Ward + one of the other new guys
CDMs: Bird + Hourihane
up front: Mendez Laing + Collins + Waghorn.

Don’t know what the big deal is? Birds played like he’s downed tools ever since he broke into the team?
Can someone tell me what he does on a football pitch for saying he’s a “footballer”?
I thought a footballer could tackle, create chances and score goals and he does neither and never has? Can’t run on top of thatDeclan Rice doesn’t score goals and seldom creates any. I don’t think he tackles that often either. Does that mean he’s not a footballer either?
The problem is that Max is a CDM and we have two other CDMs in the same team. Take out hourihane and Smith and play a couple of players who are more comfortable going forward and have bags of energy and Max will look a different (much better) player.

I think that was a horrendous error suggesting players have had their heads turned. Max Bird is a Derby lad and loves the club and most commentators think he’s capable of playing at a higher level. Notwithstanding he’s still with us and I don’t for a minute believe that he’s not trying or his mind is not in the game. He strikes me a a consummate professional.
I suspect that since Max is such a laid back character he will not have an issue with what Paul Warne has said. However, tbh, if it was me, I would be giving him both barrels if he’d said that about me and my character. A low trick and very very disappointing. If anything is going to make a player turn his head it’s this kind of behaviour from his manager. I just hope Warne apologises to the player and they can all move forward.

FWIW, this strategy should work ok away from home. I’m confident that we will perform better on Saturday.

At last Warne subs two strikers on ….
… to replace two other strikers.

There's a few genuine laugh out loud comments on here
The rest is just jaundiced, narrow minded, blinkered drivel.
There's some folks actually revelling in the scoreline tonight as it then in their minds justifies their own biased personal narrative.
Weird.
We’re all entitled to our view. But at the end of the day i would like to think we all want the rams to win and do well. I’m still hoping we can find a way to turn this round. COYR.

We are 135 minutes into the season and some people want the manager out, a man who has 3 promotions from this division and had us on 19 game odd unbeaten run last year with a thread bare squad. Yes it might be s**** today, we only lost on the weekend because of errors which he cannot control, give it a few games before panicking.
I don’t want him out. I want him to rethink his approach to home games and be a bit less arrogant eg talking about what it takes to win leagues. Other than that I’m happy to be patient and turn it round.

Liam Thompson coming on to make the difference.
I’m a fan of Thommo. His turn against Fulham a couple of seasons ago prior to planges goal was legendary. Bags of energy and looks after the ball well. I really hope he does well second half. We need some positives.

Laughable. This team pre-season talking about what it takes to win promotion!

It’s only 1/0. We might have set up wrong and perhaps look crap at the back. But we do have good players. We just need to draft a few openings and we’re back in this. Right?

What team would you have picked instead given your total dissatisfaction
Well three holding midfielders is two to many. But given we haven’t bought any attacking midfielders then I’d be playing three up top to start with. With that and both Wilson and Joe ward and hourihane bombing on. Perhaps we’d look more of a threat.

2 forwards … when was the last time a derby side started with 2 forwards ? About 20 years.. so not sure how u can moan about that .
CH and MB are both technically able players .. CH got in team of the season last year because of his goals and assists contribution..
is his cos we lost saturday .. let me guess.. if wed won saturday ud be calling promotion 🙄
Nope. I just think Paul Warne only has one way to play. It’s great away. But we should be much more adventurous and creative at home. That’s my opinion. I want it to work. I really do.

Brilliant. Two forwards at home. No attacking looking players in midfield.
Not enough creativity either.
We will need the full backs getting up a lot and the midfield supporting the strikers.Warneball is really winding me up. I hope I’m wrong but it feels like another frustrating evening ahead already.

Not sure if you saw our bench but we onky had 1 attacking option on there, did you expect us to start Washington as well & have no attacking option on the bench.
The lack of attacking options starting yesterday wont have been through choice, its down to numbers.
Add Waggy, another striker, Barkhuizen, Sibley & maybe another striker or 10 we will then start to have more attacking options but on Sat we had Collins & NML with an unfit Washington on the bench
I do t think so. It was the same last year when we had attacking options. Warne plays the same way at home as away. It’s unadventurous and frankly boring watching us play at home. We have more creative options but don’t use them.
and yes we should definitely have started with Washington yesterday.

DCFC will win this one 3/1 with first scorer hourihane.

Do we know who’s playing for Derby? I’ve heard Bryson, Johnson and Nugent.

Anyone willing to have a go at setting up an eleven better than Warne has over the course of the season? What magic formation there was or player you’d have put in a different system?
Rosenior was very smart with his recruitment, but we were left very limited. We had good players but a tiny squad with inexperienced mixed with over experienced and it wasn’t quite enough to get us over the finish line. We were always going to need a bit of luck, and in football when you are desperate for it you never get it and consistently over the season we didn’t get it. Although we bemoan refs how much is White conceading penalties down to inexperience, much like Davies today being too tired in his?
And even saying that there’s some players, without naming because it doesn’t matter now and cba with the debates, who will feel they let themselves down today. Whether it’s composure in the opposition box, not looking after the ball or if I’m being blunt maaaybe just not wanting it enough in a big game I think there is some that are massively disappointed. Warne can’t affect those moments, it’s down to the players. They’ve been good over the season, but again just not quite good enough.
Also Warne can’t effect s**** refs 😉
You’re right, we have had rotten luck with referees decision and todays against sheff wed is another example. Plus we’ve suffered with inexperienced players, such as Harvey White.
But we’ve also suffered from players playing out of position. Cashin (who was superb for most so the season) at times looks like he’s playing left back and was caught out a few times for pace. Knight is wasted at wing back. He does the job very well but really shouldn’t be playing there. Sibley isn’t fed the ball enough and is subbed off when he would be most effective when opposing players are tired. Dobbin was unplayable for a couple of weeks and Warne put him on the bench.
Tactically we seem overly kean on playing long diagonal balls, despite bird and hourihane being perfectly good ball playing midfielders. Warne just wants to by-pass them.Warne bemoans our ineffectiveness from free kicks and corners … but what has he done about it? There is no inventiveness, it seems to be just hoofing the ball into the box and hoping. As is so often the case our corners seem to be simply an opportunity for the opposition to counter-attack. I’m more worried that we’ll conceded than score.
I really, really want us to be successful next season and I’m sure with his players we will improve our position in the league.
I genuinely fear that we will be watching more long ball stuff and have players that “chase down everything”, which is great, but it might be that we sacrifice skill for stamina and end up watching worse football.

I’m not a fan so far. Too much territory based football, too defensive at home. Players out of position (not all forced). Form players being left on the bench.
I am hoping next year with his own squad we will be more of a team that suits Warnes style of play. But I fear it will be a variant of hoof ball. 🙁
