  1. He was wanting the ball to feet so many times, moving into pockets of space. We refused the pass and went sideways. It happened constantly. You could see how wound up by it he was getting. There's definitely a player there though, he has one of the better first touches and other than Sibley, he's probably the only player we have who can shift it and get a shot off.
  2. You can get petty with me all you want, but you were the one who said it. If that isn’t what you meant then fair enough, but that was how your post read.
  3. Sounds like he’s been unsettled with all the contract stuff and lost focus.
  4. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. You’re saying Warne should have used the zero transfer money he has spent on signing the absolutely best that non-league has to offer? (Which, by the way, no other transfer genius has done in the same time). How is that possible? Over the longest period Derby absolutely do seem to never unearth the gem and always end up paying the finders the fee. Likely due to competing at the sharp end of the table and that gamble is exactly that, a perceived gamble over a more established (and expensive) name. We should have had better scouts and transfer policy, absolutely. Even moreso in hindsight. But to level it at Warne right now? Not having it.
  5. How can you blame Paul Warne for this when we haven’t spent a fee since he’s been here?
  6. Would be a bold gamble to think he's going to play enough to go and watch. He played 27 mins in the first game, but in the 11 appearances this season, he averages under 14mins a game.
  7. It's always about a blend. Our midfield absolutely didn't work, and still doesn't really, when we played Hourihane and Smith. Age is relative to athleticism, NML for example, is still quicker and more athletic than a lot of younger players you'll come across. Got to find the blend for the opposition - our old, slow players got battered against Posh's young, athletic, quick players. So, overall, your post and assessment of TJJ is about as wrong as old Alan's was.
  8. This is the opinion which gives us crap pundits on TV constantly. Just because someone has played or even coached/managed, doesn't mean they're good at talking about it to an audience, and in some cases, have a better opinion than anyone else.
  9. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but when you're openly admitting to not watching very much and, correct me if I'm wrong, not really watching any other League One football, then your views are always open to challenge. Personally, the more and more I've seen of League One, the more it's abundantly clear that the liquid football and control of games you speak of is rare. It happens for spells in games, maybe a whole game if you're lucky, but certainly not week to week. And that goes for every single team, not just us. It's the nature of the League and the quality/talent within it.
  10. Probably relay it in the summer
  11. It did seem like the moment we were discussing that if we got a 3rd we could really go on and get a hatful, we seemed to immediately hit self-destruct. Agree with the first paragraph completely. Steele needs to be packed off, he's overly negative so often.
  12. Bolton's 2 games in hand will be huge. Bolton away at Posh last game of the season could prove tasty.
  13. I'm not sure Collins is the ideal foil for JJ... JJ is much more technically gifted and Collins doesn't move well around him. They just don't gel either way you slice it, but they may improve if they play together more. Said it in the ratings thread, but there was a point in the first half where JJ was all the way out on the left touchline near the bench screaming for a ball to feet from Elder and he was completely ignored in favour of a safe pass to Cashin. He was visibly annoyed by it. We are still getting used to him playing, particularly from the start, we have to use him more at what he's good at.
  14. I doubt it, Ward played again after he was binned at half time a few weeks back after 2 penalties given away for dumb challenges in a little over 45mins of game time.
  15. Wettest few months on record and a league one budget.
  16. Odd one last night, think there's a few who saw things quite differently so guess we will see what the trends come out as. ATG 31Vickers - 5 - Only thing he does better than Wildsmith is throwing it. Maybe he can improve as Wildsmith was shaky his first month or so last season, but I'm not seeing it right now. 2Wilson - 8 - Constant threat. Would say consistent end product will make a huge step but if he did that, he would be in the Premier League 35Nelson - 7.5 - Thought he was brilliant, won everything 6Cashin - 7 - Good performance. The goals had nothing to do with either centre back 20Elder - 3 - All over the place, compounded with a tragic, comedic error 17Sibley - 6 - out of position but could attack more given how the game was going 11Méndez-Laing - 6.5 - One of his poorer performances, but remained a threat in his presence and the assist was brilliant 8Bird - 7 - Really stepped up at times and kept us going 4Hourihane - 6 - Bailed us out, but not entirely sure it's worth the rest of his performances consistently 7Barkhuizen - 6.5 - Struggled to find a white shirt before he scored, but, he did score and get an assist 5Bradley - 6 - No time 19John-Jules - 6 - Seen some saying he was poor, I don't really think he was. He cut a frustrated figure numerous times first half when he moved to get the ball to feet and we went slowly and safely wide. Use him, he's capable. 16Thompson - 6 - Limited time 9Collins - 6.5 - Good header
  17. Would love to be in a position to care what he will or won't get away with in the Championship.
  18. For what it’s worth, everyone thought he was poor round me tonight. Several chuckles when he was announced man of the match. Seemed like every touch he had before the goal ended up with the opposition.
  19. Won’t change without personnel changing. And he isn’t dropping Hourihane.
  20. New manager bounce. Manager of the month curse. Sky TV at home. Their cup final. Could go second. Delete as appropriate circa 10pm boys and girls.
  21. Loved his recent interview after signing this deal. Made reference to how much his 2 year old daughter loves Derby and coming to see Rammie. Was really nice.
  22. Don't think their squad care... they just see us as a big scalp, like every team in this league do coming to Pride Park. It's their fans that care. Have to say, I've worked in Burton for 11 years now and met maybe 3 Burton fans who aren't actually just fans of Derby or Villa. They're a rare breed. They remind me of non-league fans where they all know each other and have a certain vibe.
