Let me get this right… we could play players on loan from other category one academies without them needing to have played the game before or after, or satisfying the appearances required, but we can’t just play our own lads from our own category one academy? These regulations were really not written for a league one club with a category one academy.

There’s quite a number of regulations to try and make you put out a stronger team. Not sure if we can or can’t make 11 changes and still satisfy it.

I did kind of understand going for the same team today of all days though after the performance midweek. Doesn’t excuse the subs though, and I would be shocked if he suddenly went crazy youthful on Wednesday too.

Youth. One of the huge issues with our team is a lack of pace and athleticism. We lack it in so many areas, even NML who is quick is getting on in his career so can’t maintain for 90mins. Warne preached pressing in pre-season and we basically never do it because of this. It’s also why Thompson looked so good before he got injured, all because he could run. So, couple this issue with the fact fans are generally a lot, lot more patient with youth players than the same old retreads getting yet another try at it. Can we not see Darren Robinson instead of Korey Smith, for example? It was completely ludicrous that Brown had to wait to come on midweek to see Collins trot around for a bit.

So when you’ve got a good finisher on the bench who’s pretty good at having a go from outside the box, not bringing him on til really late makes sense does it? Just more bafflement from Warne is the frustration more than the result. When things aren’t working, he waits until 70 minutes to do anything. Then seemingly makes subs which don’t attempt to fix the problems there are
