Lets be honest, even though some of us would be sniffy about it, Billy Sharp would score a bagful at this level with our team behind him. The aim is to get promoted

    I wouldn’t disagree with that.

I actually have a feeling that Collins might be the surprise of the season for us- particularly if he gets a couple of early goals to boost his confidence. I think a repeat of the 25 goal season with Luton when they got promoted from League 1 might even be on. Just have a gut feeling.

So based on the feedback on how he plays I’m hoping that CW is going to have a similar role as Paul Goddard did.
I don’t remember a big fan fare when he arrived but what a player for us he was and how superb he was for Dean Saunders .. question is if Conor can have a similar impact, allbeit at a lesser level, who will be our Deano?

Goddard was exactly who instantly came to my mind too… u r totally correct… Saunders benefited massively from him up top…

CW could be the exact same catalyst…

  3. Yes, looking good thus far and I am also optimistic…

Still rather concerned at this juncture about the lack of real midfield creativity …the defence-splitting passes etc…..

And NML was knackered for the last half of the season so goodness knows how long he will last after his exertions in Guatemala ..🤷‍♂️😎

We have to get a quality 20 goal striker though … from somewhere…🤞

Jeez,  It’s a bit of trim not the whole colour of the shirt!  I don’t think many people will share your fervent hatred of the colour red to that level of detail.

How did you know that colour was called “flaming red” anyhow, seems very specific?

Think of the red and white being England’s national colours ✔️😎

Just watched Collins interview with ramstv says he’s spoken to a couple players who he expects to come in. Putting 2+2 together Sonny Bradley and Mark Harris spring to mind

Collins is a happy dude, eh ?!😂 All smiles…

    Not complaining….

We have … and look at the meltdowns its been causing amongst our more precious supporters 😂😂

PW’s latest comments about Knight leaving and his valuation are not helpful and - speaking as a professional negotiator myself - downright stupid. Honesty is a nice trait but not when negotiating in a situation like this …

As a negotiator I am basically hearing him say that he wants him go (although he might not mean that) and that the ‘non-offensive offers which are almost there’ equate to a selling price of 2m max based on the fact that everyone knows two offers (max being 1.5m) have been turned down.

Sorry, but PW should have just kept it to ‘we want to keep him but realize  that he’s in demand…’.’.

Honesty doesn’t pay dividends when you are selling an asset…

  7. I think it’s clear that Clowes isn’t going to invest any new capital to purchase new players in terms of fees. That’s fair enough given what he/the Company invested to save the Club. The business is going to be financed on a straight forward revenue=expenses basis. Sound and safe business practice and understandable given the history etc.

We fans tend to be fickle when the money being spent is not our own (notwithstanding the small amount we inject via a season ticket etc) and the Plan to move up the league(s) is clearly a multi-year one. Once again, fair enough.

The window isn’t closed yet by a long way but it’s clear (bar some ‘rabbit out of the hat’ PW trick) that we are going to struggle to find good strikers (which we badly need ) without the payment of competitive transfer fees. It’s such a shame if that is the case because I think we all know that this year League 1 is in many ways, on the face of it, the ‘weakest’ it’s been for several seasons. That being the case us getting some good strikers in is in my opinion likely to be the deciding factor as to whether we can make a realistic push for promotion- certainly via the auto two spots.

After all the  money that has often been wasted on poor purchases over the last few seasons it is just so ironic that the lack of what would have been regarded as a misery 500k in the past may hinder our promotion chances this year…Yes, full weight also being given to length of contract term/wages adding up to the total aggregate investment in a single player (eg Alfie May). Such is the way of the World I guess..

This isn’t a complaint but just a little realization in my own mind that to build ourselves up to be expecting to automatically challenge for promotion this coming season may be a little optimistic…

They had a difficult relationship after Lapado said he wanted to leave..... Warne dropped him them only played him sporadically for the rest of the season.

Which is strange seeing as PW always going on about he understands players wanting to achieve as much as they can and how he would never standin their way for a good move…

    Sounds a promising, productive player.

I'm not sure if our recruitment chap has misheard Warne when asked to find us a new Didzy though?

He must have thought he was asked to find a diddy replacement, and at less than 5'4" this kid certainly fits the bill.

I think he'd quite comfortably be the shortest player we've ever had?

Our own Barry Bannan maybe ???

He never answers a question does he, just general vagueness 🙄

It’s early days in the transfer window and he’s ( Bradley) probably waiting to see if a Champo club comes in for him. As big as a club we might be we are still in League 1 and he probably feels that he’s good enough for another season or two at Champ level..

The guy must have some options after such a good season with Luton..

Oh come on Roy. What could he say ? Sorry, but your better than “meh”

I think we all have to ask ourselves what we would do in his situation. I believe the answer is we would all do the exact same thing as he has done. Football is business- football is a profession- and it’s a short career.

    it is what it is.

    I wish him well.

Think it’s a nice and appropriate post from him 👍

Scored 20 goals in a poor Cheltenham team, for 200k he is well worth the gamble imo.

Scored against us, Ipswich, Plymouth, Sheff W, Wycombe & Peterborough so can do it vs the top teams in the league whi h who we struggled against last season.

Some brilliant & clinical finishes in the below video of his goals last season.

What’s there not to like ??

I’d love love is to be in for him …

Alongside another striker who can hold the ball up and bully defenders I think we would be on to a winner…

Got to be worth a gamble …
