Spare a thought for those of us who live in rural Derbyshire and have no gas. We have oil central heating and it is costing nearly £1000 per tank. We usually have 3 deliveries a year. So that's £3000 already and we have the electricity bill on top. No cap on oil prices

I was so incensed by the mini budget I fired off a letter to my Conservative MP. Not only is it morally wrong but it is looking increasingly like a financial disaster. Not only that but the Conservatives have manged to committ electoral suicide by alienating the tradionally Labour voters who voted for Boris in the last election. Please if you feel strongly about this send an e.mail to your MP. Thanks.

Me neither but it is worrying that they haven't the intelligence to realise the implications for their own party. Either that or they don't care which seems weird.

I was thinking the same. No one voted for this.

I have to say that I know very few people who sit in the top tax bracket, but of the handful that I do - all of them express no issues with paying a higher rate of tax. Primarily because they recognise that they are comfortably well-off and have no money worries. Secondary to that is the fact that they are all decent people who understand the purpose of taxation and consider themselves very lucky to earn what they do. I've only spoken to one of them about the budget so far and his response was "it's just effing embarrassing"
To me taxation should be linear and proportional. The more you can afford to pay, the more you should pay. That's the bedrock of a healthy functioning society. Kind of how it looks here until you get to Income Group 20. It's absurd and it's indefensible
And that's not me "stamping my feet and whining". That's me saying we're governed by morons

It doesn't sit well with me at all so without going into detail I am doing my own wealth distribution acts. Not everybody needs or indeed wants more money. Sometimes we get more pleasure from helping others than amassing even more money.

Really ? I hardly think the meagre amounts of £100- £200 quoted in today's papers for the lower paid are supportive particularly when you take inflation into account.

I think this budget is immoral and foresee a season of discontent and strikes. That people in work are using food banks and I know that because my friend volunteers in one is an absolute disgrace.

It is a lot of money to give away, especially when you look at how much more of it is being given to people who don't really need it so much. Aren't you furious about that? These people don't need exponentially large handouts. They work so hard that they are already comfortably well off. Or do they somehow deserve to receive orders of magnitude larger hand outs?

The French got rid of their monarchy over 200 years ago and yet people still flock to Paris. I'm not against the monarchy by the way but I would like to see it slimmed down and do they really need all those very large houses. How about putting some Ukranians up in one of them? Don't get all whipped up about that last comment it is not meant to be taken very seriously.
