Kept quiet on this topic but I really think his time is up. Nobody I speak to is enjoying the football and unfortunately I can't see it getting any better.

Spare a thought for those of us who live in rural Derbyshire and have no gas. We have oil central heating and it is costing nearly £1000 per tank. We usually have 3 deliveries a year. So that's £3000 already and we have the electricity bill on top. No cap on oil prices

I won't complain about this
Me neither but it is worrying that they haven't the intelligence to realise the implications for their own party. Either that or they don't care which seems weird.

I was so incensed by the mini budget I fired off a letter to my Conservative MP. Not only is it morally wrong but it is looking increasingly like a financial disaster. Not only that but the Conservatives have manged to committ electoral suicide by alienating the tradionally Labour voters who voted for Boris in the last election. Please if you feel strongly about this send an e.mail to your MP. Thanks.

I said the tax and NI relief on top of the >£600 energy handout (following the previous £150 given) as well as an energy bill price cap, all on top of current benefits Is a lot of money to give away especially after paying people to sit at home for over a year (which people seem to have conveniently forgotten about). I think the government should be commended for it, however it’s never enough is it, people always want more.
It doesn't sit well with me at all so without going into detail I am doing my own wealth distribution acts. Not everybody needs or indeed wants more money. Sometimes we get more pleasure from helping others than amassing even more money.

So no response to this @Stive Pesley not even a laughing smiley face reaction?……..why’s that? is it maybe because the government IS actually supporting the lower paid?
Really ? I hardly think the meagre amounts of £100- £200 quoted in today's papers for the lower paid are supportive particularly when you take inflation into account.

Oh dear! I give you a compliment and how do you reply? Gobbing off! How eloquently you express yourself! I am not posting anything else on this now. I'm off to the pub with my mates.

He was suspended after confronting the principal at a public event.
As an aside, one wonders what part of the teachings of Christ transgenderism runs contrary to.
If he wasn't suspended for his polemic on homosexuality in 2020, what makes you think he was suspended for refusing to use appropriate pronouns?
Gosh you have been busy researching this. I am impressed. I bow down and out to your greater knowledge.

If a teacher can't treat another human being with dignity and understanding then, yes I'd say that there is a fairly strong case for his employer taking whatever action they see fit. Which is their right as an employer after all

He was suspended on full pay, pending investigation (if we are talking about the same case) but jailed later when he refused to stay away from the school. That's not freedom of speech, that's failing to obey an order.
True but did he need suspending for refusing to call someone they? I think that in itself is an issue about freedom of speech.

Nothing could tempt me to have their life. 24/7 under public and media scrutiny, not being able to have any kind of normal lifestyle. Simple every day actions ridiculed or torn apart. Not being able to trust anyone that you meet and even those that you have known for years.
Celebrities have similar issues, but for the large part, they know what they're getting into, they're not born into it.
Yes that is a huge downside but look at the positives of being a Royal, no waiting for medical care, access to the top specialists, travelling all over the world, meeting some very interesting and talented people, no worries about whether to go without food or heating. I dare say there are load more positives too.

My friend taught physics to the drummer from Def Leppard and remembers with great embarrassment telling him to work harder as he wouldn't make a career out of music. One of those moments that comes back to haunt you. I've seen Maiden 3 times, absolutely brilliant and in the 70s went to Clouds later Cleopatra's on a Thursday night to see bands such as Barclay James Harvest, Uriah Heep, Trapeze. It was great we just sat on the floor shaking our heads. Left me with a permanently creaking neck though.

The French got rid of their monarchy over 200 years ago and yet people still flock to Paris. I'm not against the monarchy by the way but I would like to see it slimmed down and do they really need all those very large houses. How about putting some Ukranians up in one of them? Don't get all whipped up about that last comment it is not meant to be taken very seriously.

We’ve already sneered at you lot earlier in the thread, no need to repeat it?
Yes because it is a very important issue and hopefully in the near future it will be banned. I don't think you had a great deal of support though.

I forgot to add that many types of fake grass include substances like lead, cadmium and carcinogenic compounds.
-
Sadly the environmental credentials of fake grass are terrible. The process to make it is energy intensive with materials imported m from places like China adding many road miles. It only has between 7 - 10 years on average before it needs replacing when the old one will go to landfill. What often goes under fake grass is also a problem as it is usually laid over a consolidated base, usually of crushed concrete and often including a plastic based weed membrane. As for wildlife you won't find blackbirds, robins, hedgehogs or bumblebees on fake grass. I firmly believe it is up to each and everyone of us to do everything we can to provide an environment which is supportive to our native wildlife and that includes not using weedkiller!

I don’t have a problem with insects of butterflies etc in our garden as her indoors has plenty of flowers etc, and a large budlia *spellcheck* that attracts lots of flying insects, even bats at night.
As for the rest of the grass insects, they can go next door. The amount of fossil fuels I’ve not burnt in cutting the grass and taking to the tip, plus weed killers etc will allow me to sleep quiet easy in my bed.
If you like real grass, good for you. Enjoy it.

House two doors down has been sold and there getting ready to rent it out.. everything in the garden gone and replaced with stones and fake grass that's 3 metres by 3 metres. It could be mowed in seconds. I appreciate their may be the very odd occasion where someone's disabled and has no one to do it but that would be rare. family member, neighbour, ability to fund a gardener every couple of weeks to whip over it. etc. Sad thing is, I can see a situation where local authority start doing this to save money. Round may way it's done every few months, butchered and dying as it is.
Have you seen a garden with plastic flowers? Absolutely awful and so sad to see. We report on sightings of butterflies in Derbyshire and the consensus is that this year has been dire for butterflies. Plastic flowers don't help. I wish some people would realise how vital even the smallest piece of earth is to so many creatures. Insect numbers have declined so much in the last 30 and this has a knock on effect on so many creatures.

I hate fake grass. It's poor for the environment and contains toxic chemicals not to mention the impact it has on our ever dwindling numbers of insects and birds. When it wears out which at some point it will it can't be recycled and will just add to the landfill. My heart sinks every time I see somebody ripping out nature and replacing it with fake. I hate it!
