Crewton is right. Derby's case is much stronger than Wigan's. That isn't saying much it's true, as Wigan's really was a hopeless case.

I don't really understand this story.

My understanding is that the 12 point deduction is an all or nothing thing. According to the rules as I understand them, If covid was the most proximate cause of the administraton then the deduction should be zero  points. If it was not then, it should be 12 points. No other ifs or  buts or mitigating factors that could reduce it in half.

Unless .. we are saying .. we haven't got time to fight this through the courts or tribunals, let's do a deal now and get certainty.

Also EFL asking for our books over six years.. haven't they had them already?

Because there is no single party to blame , but several. See my other recent post. Nobody that I know of has said Mel Morris is blameless.

Well first of all I think Derby (second highest attendance in the Championship in 2019-20) were most affected by covid than any other team (the team with highest attendance Leeds were promoted to Premier League so got access to a new  money tree) . Many other bigger teams were in receipt of parachute money (which did not reduce during covid) so were also much less affected. Smaller teams not affected so much as they were not relying on big gates anyway, so had smaller budgets. Also of course there is the covid loan that (for disputed reasons)  was denied Derby but not most other teams.
secondly, the club was up for sale, and yes that was probably because Morris was running out of money due to historic overspending. But like I say how do we know that a buyer would not have been found if covid had not come along?

But who is to say he wouldn't have sold the club if not for covid? And administration avoided? It is hardly an "excuse", covid has had a devastating affect on revenues and indeed on valuations of players and other assets as well as on the  prospects of selling the club. Anoyone who denies that must have an agenda against Morris.

As I have said the fact they are trying to broker a six point deduction rather than go to a tribunal or Court which would decide whether it should be 12 or zero.

The weaselly self righteous  mantra they come out with is "to preserve the integrity of the league". Meanwhile the Premier league accepts new owners of  regimes that murder journalists for telling the truth, glad to see integrity being preserved there .

Exactly. All true. Yes, Morris should not have reacted to the Hughes and Bryson injuries with panic buys costing over £10 million in transfer fees and much more in wages. And probably shoudlnt have put a rookie manager with little knowledge of the lower leagues in charge of recruitment decisons when Lampard took over.  Etc etc many many mistakes by Mel but we must be the unluckiest club ever and do not deserve this mess or all the blame that the media and the EFL are pushing our way.

It's all about the timing of covid, it happened at the time when Derby were least able to cope with it.
Maybe, if it had happened 5 years ago, another club or clubs, may not have been in a position to cope with it and we'd have been alright?
MM has thrown the dice and he/we have lost. But, you can't deny that we've had a lot of miss fortune along the way, all little things contributing to the situation that we're in now.
Financial cheating QPR beating us in the most one sided play off final ever.
SM, Rowett and Lampard all having their heads turned and leading to unnecessary management and direction changes.
Hughes and Bryson getting long term injuries right at the end of the transfer window, leading to panic buying and ultimately financial indiscipline by the club.
Key injuries to key players, we always seem to be waiting for our talisman to come back from injury.
The debacle of the Joiners Arms, how the club wish they didn't have that team bonding night, which only caused division.
A potential sale of the club ruined by the EFL questioning the sale of the ground, now proven to be legitimate.
The final nail in the coffin being covid.
How MM must wish he could turn the clock back and so do we.
