Just wanted to add a thanks to those that recommended Dark - just finished the 1st series and can’t say I’ve entirely worked out what’s going on but thoroughly enjoyed trying.... I’ve been watching it in German with English subtitles which has possibly made it more complicated but (spoiler alert!) having the same character played by (in some cases) three different actors and then trying to keep on top of who is related to who has really added to the mystery....

Think @ariotofmyowncovered it, a book every 20 years seems a possibility!
And thanks for saying that Rev, that has actually made my evening after a long old Monday. I've got a couple of ideas I'm tempted by both in and out of the club, but I think I'm gonna hold off on those until I see whether people actually enjoyed Pride first.

Top effort, glad you're enjoying it! The 2-2 with Christie robbed of a hat-trick? Remember it well. Birthday ruined.
I've put together 2000 words or so with Craig Bryson as well that seems to have gone down well today. Here's the link if anyone wants some night time reading: https://thederbybook.wordpress.com/2020/10/18/sitting-down-with-craig-bryson/

Smashed through the first 70 pages today. Fantastic read. Combining it with albums from those years too. Hour of the Bewilderbeast for 2000 and Strokes debut for 2001. Great times.
That draw with Man U under Gregory was on my bday. I had been staying with mate in Nottingham the night before and missed the start as the trains were all screwed. Great atmosphere.
I haven't thought of Mawene for a long time. Used to like his relaxed style.

Just in case anyone wants to take their minds off current Derby, I've put together a few articles with players of the pretty recent past that might take you to a slightly happier time. Pretty much everything in these are quotes that didn't make the final edition of the book, but thought there were a few little glimmers of insight worth scrambling together! Article with Craig Bryson coming tomorrow as well.

Assassin's Creed has to take priority, I agree with you completely on that!
Enjoy the book ? If we carry on as we are, there will be a second one imminently just on these last few days.

Mine arrived today. Lovely cover, great pics inside (especially the back cover) and smells lovely.
I would like to start it tonight, but I'm addicted to both the TV show Dark and Assassin's Creed Oddesey. Think there was something else on tonight too, but that could well end up being the 4th best option!

Love to hear that NC! I'm guessing NC doesn't stand for Nigel Clough though considering some of the bits in there ?
Have you got a favourite chapter?

As part of Pride, I took up around six hours of Craig Bryson's time, splitting interviews over three different days. It would be little surprise if he had blocked my number by now. But like pretty much everyone else who contributed to the book, he's been really on board and even gave a little emoji yesterday. I now realise I probably should have got former players and managers to do all my marketing, but we live and learn.

I've not been in the pub much lately so haven't caught up with this thread, sorry.
I just wanted to let you know that there are 4 NHS funded talking therapy services in Derby/Derbyshire and all offer CBT and if needed, some higher level therapies. You can refer yourself  directly to any of them. The details are here on the CCG website (they are the funders) where you can also see ratings of their effectiveness.
I have a lot of time for all 4 providers - they are a real mix - two private, one NHS and one voluntary sector - they all do a great job.
Trent PTS, Vita Minds, Talking Mental Health Derbyshire and Insight.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I'll pass it on to the comms team at the club and see if they can get this looked into at all. I think it's hidden away in the souvenirs category, but I'll see what they can do.
Enjoy the book! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts

    Happy Friday one and all!
I should probably apologise in advance as I feel a little bit spammy, but I'm pretty excited to say that Pride (or Pride: The Inside Story of Derby County in the 21st Century to give it the full, far too long name) will be available from the club shop and online from this weekend!
    Link - https://www.dcfcmegastore.co.uk/item/2865/Books/Pride-Na.html
For those who don't know, Pride is a project I've been working on for around three years in total, and it's seen me work with just over 60 former players, managers, chairmen, coaches and #ITK fans to tell the tale of the club from the moment we moved into Pride Park until the beginning of this year. It's not really a game by game account, it's more of a focus on each season, the on-field and off-field dramas (even the crash), all told by those who lived it from the inside. So to put the 60 people into context, it varies from the likes of Stefano Eranio, Steve McClaren and Warren Barton through to Gary Rowett, Harry Wilson, Giles Barnes, Inigo Idiakez and Jake Buxton.
The club have been extremely supportive and it's been a huge surprise to have them come on board, considering the content paints a factual tale, but they've been a huge help and it's fantastic to have them on board.
For anyone who has pre-ordered already - and a massive thank you for your interest in what began as just a daft little project to pass the time - what I'm going to recommend to people is that they cancel their pre-orders with Amazon and the likes, because hopefully money won't have been taken. Then the book will be available for around a week or two at the club and the megastore, before hitting the wider world. Unfortunately this one was out of my hands so I'm expecting a few pelters ?
I'll try not to spam too much but if anyone has any questions or comments on the book, what it's about or why certain people didn't make the cut, just reply or drop me a message. And most of all, for anyone who is keen and interested in understanding almost every major development and in-story of the club over 20+ years, I really hope you enjoy it. I'm on Twitter at @PrideDCFC where I'll be rambling to myself and sharing a few articles I've done over the past few months.
You might see/hear me a bit over the media over the next few weeks, so I'm always here to throw abuse at! I had a chat with the @Steve Bloomer's Washing team as well for their latest episode: https://soundcloud.com/user-147200653/sbw-94-Derby-county-2000-2020

Agreed. 13 Reasons was similar...everyone looks perfect but underneath they have dark secrets. Dead to Me is another perfectly well written series that still felt a little 'so what' for that reason.
Because I find ultimately if the whole feel is still quite polished I find it harder to care /really become engrossed.
Something closer to real life, maybe more harsh and authentic is always easier for me to connect with...like The Sopranos or The Wire.

Just the whole feel is a bit glossy, everything/one looks attractive and just all feels a bit superficial. Sinner was similar maybe to Big Little Lies then...

Oh man, Stranger Things is great. I've watched about 20 episodes in 3 days.
I half arsed saw the first season but wasn't into it but now I get the hype.
Simple, nostalgic, electronic music, neon lights, 80's movie cliché, great characters and great acting. Millie Bobby Brown is fascinating in every scene.
Just about to start season 3. Breaking Bad levels of enjoyment for me. All this time ignoring the hype! ?
