    -1 for a start!
Technically, I could make it, but I'm up at 3am Wednesday heading for an early Eurotunnel, 6 hours driving, and a 36kg tent to put up in the bamford rain (As the forecast currently predicts!)
IF we were doing ok, I'd have still made the effort, and put up with minimal sleep.  Be that results/league position/recent form/attractive/entertaining football etc.
As we're a little short on all points just lately, I'll not be bothering.  There's simply not enough on offer to tempt me tomorrow night, all things considered.
As it stands, I'm nowhere near the point I was at under Young Nigel's reign towards the end, so I'm currently still planning on turning up on cold winter nights to come...
    "Currently", I said!  😉

Here's to me missing an absolute cracker, and regretting such a stupid half-fan decision!  🐏

Wouldn’t you rather play Fornah in the DM and just tell him to sit back and only defend? I feel like we’re wasting Hourihanes long shot ability, and Bird could be freed more as well. But both Bird and Hourihane have a bit of defensive qualities as well if needed.

if its such a useless stat, why do most teams use it in their analysis?

Some people underestimate how transformative a manager can be. Many of the players in the Mac team were actually quite average, who have done nothing of note before or after that time.
There must be some assistant manager at a PL club who wants the step up. Similar to Ipswich with McKenna. As I've said in previous topics, we need someone with a knowledge of football to oversee it on behalf of Clowes and Pearce. Someone who studies football and knows where to find the right manager etc.

The players are being 'drilled' to get the ball forward as quickly as they can. By forward Warne means out wide and then put the ball across. Where's any real passing needed there? We can but I feel they are encouraged not to.

Anyone who is familiar with football has to realise that it is now a question of "when" and not "if".
The writing is on the wall, all the signs are there with fan reactions, player reactions, same old interview stereotypes etc
The answer to "when" should be "now". No better time, no time to delay. Let's not waste any more precious fixtures

This explains why Warne has mentioned numerous times that Klopp is his favourite manager. I can imagine he mentioned it in his initial interview with Clowes as well. Shame no one at the club had the footballing authority to challenge him on why his Rotherham team played nothing like this.

Cheltenham hadn't scored a single goal all season and we couldn't beat them...

i don't use BBC stats as they have been wrong in the past. They are also very limited and give you hardly any detail about the matches. They don't even bother with xg for example.
You can't say the reason we're not scoring enough is due to good saves and goal line blocks. I could believe that if it were for 1 or 2 games, but we've had 15 matches this season which is a large sample size and it suggests otherwise.
Yes i agree both keepers had good games but not sure the relevance of that in the argument

I suppose a DOF should have been appointed by Clowes before he appointed Warne. I agree, I'm not sure how one would help with Warne at this point in terms of tactics etc. I think we do need someone to interfere somewhat and hold the manger accountable, at the moment no one can because Clowes and Pearce don't have the footballing knowledge to challenge him.
I know we're not going to be like Brighton, but they have a Technical Director who oversees the coaching, academy, recruitment etc. from a cohesive footballing perspective. At the moment our entire approach to football is just Warne, which doesn't seem right to me.
If we'd had a DOF at the start of the season, they would've had a meeting where Warne would've presumably pitched his idea of changing formation to a 3-5-2. The DOF would then analyse the squad, budget etc. to determine if it would be best to change formation or stick and build on the existing one. Instead Warne had free reign to attempt and change the entire playing style of the squad. He couldn't bring in enough players to do this, and the existing ones weren't adapting, and he eventually abandoned the 3-5-2 and the recruitment was a mess.

I just can't see how its possible for Warne to change his approach. I don't think he could even if he wanted to. The only way would be if different coaches were brought in to assist him, which is never going to happen.
There needs to be someone brought in with a knowledge of football to oversee it on behalf of Clowes and Pearce. At the moment Warne is the highest authority in footballing terms at the entire club, which is scary.

Lack of sharpness which should be gained in training sessions? Not being trained to move correctly off the ball to be in a position to receive a pass?
I think when it happens to one player then you say its their fault, but if its the entire team that has to come from how they're coached surely?

I honestly think that's all it would take to get top 6 with the quality of players we have. Top 2 is probably out of reach now regardless.

The worrying thing for me is that apart from the fact we seem to be getting worse and the players dont seem arsed to put in a shift for him (especially midfield). Its that he doesnt seem to have a clue what the problem is or how to sort it. We are having exactly the same problems that we had in quite a few games last season.

This is where a DoF would have this knowledge and look into that recruitment of a manager.
Here are my picks for someone that perhaps isn't the "easy" appointment.
Aaron Danks - as @Ghost of Clough mentioned,
Steve Round - don't think this needs explaining.
Des Buckingham - doing really well for Mumbai City (within the City Group) who was a former Oxford coach with Wilder, attractive style.
Stephen Bradley - Shamrock Rovers manager, linked with League 1 clubs consistently.
Justin Cochrane - Head of academy coaching for Brentford, highly rated having had former roles with England and Man Utd.
