I managed to play, watch and understand football for over 50 years without xG. Just wondered if i've missed out on some wisdom that would have made me a better player or fan?

The problem is mate that us older lads know that promotion from this league does not rely on stats. It relies on team spirit, hard work and a bit of luck (after the last few years that's one thing we hopefully have in the bank). Many of us wax lyrical about Bobby Davison and Phil Gee firing us to glorious promotions yet often the games were bloody hard work with just an occasional flash of brilliance....like NML's superb pass to the young lad tonight. The Rams are going up 🐏

We are in the third tier. Its horrible, very difficult to get out of at the best of times and we are the big scalp, the team everyone wants to beat. Teams raise their game and make it difficult for us so we have to battle and fight, do the hard, ugly stuff better than them. We're not there yet but we are slowly getting to grips with it. Hard fought narrow wins Four wins on the trot, not giving silly goals away, the way NML pushed Waggy toward the away fans to start the bounce tonight, 🎵Its beginning to look a lot like promotion.......every where we gooooooo..........🎵

Scrappy, horrible game today but the three points are vital. Top 6, 6 points off auto's. Every promotion we've had in my lifetime has been littered with games like this. So yeah, we all want to play lovely football but if that's not possible then we need to fight and scrap for 100 minutes every match, which we did today.
