190-4
Not watching it this morning, looks like we are trying to move the game on judging from the scorecard, however unlikely a result is, would at least be fun to be having a go at a win this evening…the season will be over in a blink of an eye.

Luis Reece passed 50 for the fifth consecutive innings today. 704 runs at an average of 70 this season 👏

Think we need to go all out and slog and get 100 ahead possibly before lunch and get them back in before the rain comes. Think the rain will end up being the winner 🥲
Doesn't look to be much rain about tomorrow, but probably already been to much 🙁

94-1 at close.
bat until lunch and then put them back in? It’s unlikely they will collapse again, but you’ve got to give it a go.

Madders hurt his finger trying to take a catch in the slips, doesn’t sound too good 🥲
Reece got dodgy fingers as well.
61-0 in reply, if only this was day 1 😟

After another rain delay, Sussex all out for exactly 100.

I don't know the conditions, but I just wondered based on how Sussex have struggled this morning and if it stays dry the pitch should improve tomorrow? I agree with you though. There's always a concern we'll make batting on this surface look even more difficult than our opponents.
Balls moving about a bit, a bit of uneven bounce, but it’s not a minefield or anything. Some poor shots got Sussex in trouble and then they’ve collapsed in a manner that would make Derbyshire proud 😀

If we bowl them out for less than 100, would you declare on 0?
No. Get a lead (hopefully 👀) and then get them back in. Don’t think chasing 200 plus tomorrow would be easy.
If we don’t get skittled out as well, a declaration target should be in mind from the start.

65-7
Guest back in action from the bowling of Chappell.

63/6
Guests hopes of 10 catches dashed as Conners gets one to clatter into the stumps.

Sussex 43-3
Of course we are going to play really well, be the only team look likely to win but 2 days isn’t enough to get it done 🤦♂️🤣

Sussex have been deducted 12 points, and Pujara has been suspended for our game which starts tomorrow.

I suppose Wood was the one that could have gone either way.
If no other county wants him I wouldn't be too surprised if we picked him back up for the T20 competition, especially if we have some injuries.
If I remember right, I think Thomson and Wagstaff are the two other players whose contracts are expiring. Perhaps a year contract incoming for both? Both worth keeping for depth I think.

Should have won that game.
The Vikings always seem to do weird things, but these 2 games have been something else.
7 turnovers, 4 fumbles in one game, 5 if a flag didnt let us off the hook.

I know this is easy to say with the benefit of hindsight, but I was always worried about our bowling attack this season. Considering we often struggled to take the 20 wickets required to win games last season, I did wonder how many were so bombastic about our chances with only the addition of Chappell. This season has been one of the most toothless bowling attacks I can recall. What do people think of how the side is shaping up for next season? Who do you tip as leading wicket taker next year?
I’d put my money on Mohammad Amir being leading wicket taker if he's here for the whole season.
We’ve been a bit unfortunate with the bowling attack this season. It felt a bit short to start with, but Lakmal never got going (again), Aitchison got injured, Conners got injured and has only recently started looking good again, Chappell’s been carrying an injury for a while, Lamb got injured and still can't bowl. The home pitch giving the bowlers absolutely nothing to work with doesn't help either.

Handshakes and its a draw.
Thomson and Watt bowled well to get us in a good position. Slightly surprised they both bowled non stop and we didn't try something different at any point.

Need a wicket soon or drifting towards a draw…
Looks like a draw now. Similar to the Leicestershire home game where we are running out of time in a weather-affected game. Things look less depressing with 2 wins on the board, but I think we are going to remain winless 🙁

131-6
County Cricket is a much better game when there's something in it for the bowlers….
