77-6
Abysmal.
-
49-2
Can sense an innings defeat coming here.
-
3 wickets for Morley and Sussex are all out for 479, a lead of 233.
It's a pitch and conditions that Derbyshire should be able to come out and bat for a long time and put 500 on the board… Whether they can or not is another matter.

Sussex all out for 479 if your interested 👀

Erm…..

2 early wickets for DuPavillon, including Pujara.
I like the look of him, deserved more than the 1 wicket he got yesterday.
-
Sussex close on 357-5
Poor DuPavillon in the final overs had Carson dropped at slip, almost caught and bowled (not sure if it carried), and almost chopped on (started celebrating and then realized it had missed the stumps) 🤦♂️
Would love to see him and Tickner bowl in some reasonably bowler-friendly conditions at some point.

It’s going to be a long season isn’t it.
Wouldnt be surprised if we drew every game. Certainly won't be winning any while our fielders remain unable to catch the bloody ball…

Matt Lamb joins the club of slip fielders to be put into the naughty corner, an absolute dolly as well.
Having Sussex at 336-6 right now would be a major result, instead still only 5 wickets down.

Agree, but Thompson gives us a slightly longer tail. It looks like Sussex will have better batting conditions than us, weather wise.
Yeah, the Tickner/Morley (now 50) partnership has been fun to watch, but not sure it bodes well for our bowlers.
I do feel we are a batter light, especially with Dal not scoring the runs he did a couple of years anymore.

That seems a bit harsh
Always thought Morley would play at some point, or what's the point in loaning him?
Outside of the turning pitch down at Cardiff, there’s not been a lot happening for Thomson, and he he got smacked around at nearly 5 and a half an over in the first home game. Perhaps hoping Morley can bowl more economically as I don't imagine we will see much turn.

Is Thomson injured?
No, Morley just picked instead.

189-8 as the rain arrives.
It's a strange thing seeing conditions that favor the bowlers. Just hope Sussex have to bat in equally taxing conditions.

Put the stream on just in time to see Lloyd leave a straight one 😬
Big job on for Reece and Donald.

Got to assume that Conners misses out?
I would assume we play a spinner, so yeah.

Squad for the Sussex game.
Some names noticable by there complete absence from the squad, including Harry Came, Alex Thomson, and Pat Brown.
I would guess Lloyd is going to open, Guest goes back to 3 and Lamb comes in at 5.
DuPavillon will make his debut, and I'd guess it comes down to Conners or Morley for the last place.
Middle order finally got in the runs at Headingley, a little shuffle at the top to try and strengthen the batting further.
2 overseas bowlers now can hopefully help in the quest to take wickets, though the bowling hasn’t been bad, the catching has just been abysmal.

Yorks batting again currently 31-0. Probably shake hands on a draw soon
I didn't bother watching the end, noticed that Lloyd got his first Derbyshire wicket though (I think).
Northants/Leicesters will be a draw.
Slight chance of a result between Gloucestershire and Middlesex.
Despite the poor start to the season we are still well in the mix, so all is not lost.
-
447 all out
In the end a good batting performance with Donald (97) carrying on tThe good work of Madsen and Guest and Chappell (78) and the other bowlers having some fun at the end with the follow-on avoided and the match certain to be drawn.

Derbyshire CCC - Mickey Arthur Appointed
in Other Sport
Posted
I'd say we were competitive against Glamorgan, but they're down in the basement with us 😬
Interesting point from peakfan on his blog, all the players that have come through the academy system have disappeared from the team and the worst performance in a while was served up.
Sussex are the prime example of being at the bottom and building (and sticking with) young players. Both Sussex and Leicestershire have surpassed us and look far better teams since Mickey Arthur took over.
Almost seems like all the eggs are in the T20 basket, in which case qualifying for the knockout stages becomes a minimum requirement.
