Win the toss, put the opposition in on an outground, 17 overs and no wicket 😬
We’ve not bowled badly, but we just can't seem to take wickets this season.

I believe with players like Bin Naeem and Moore, compensation would be due if they were to be poached as they are “pathway players”. With the fact they are both already on the verge of the first team at 16, we are probably alright for a while.
Bin Naeem completed his first century for the seconds today. I'd love to see him get a go somewhere in these last 4 games.

Bin Naeem impressing the coach playing in the seconds 😃

Zak Chappell comes back from the hundred a winner. He played in the first 2 or 3 games for the Oval Invincibles, but not since. Wayne Madsen and Zaman Khan both did play for the losing Manchester Originals.

Bin Naeem scored 33 off 36 balls, Moore didn't play as he was called up to the England u19 squad for their ODI series with Australia.

The club have been confirmed Haider Ali has played his last game for the club.
He’s had a decent year for a 22 year old playing in England for the first time, scoring over 1000 all format runs.
Averages:
Championship - 32.06
One Day Cup - 34.28
T20 - 25.76
One century and seven half centuries across the three formats.
He was fun to watch when he got going, but we didn't see it enough. Coupled with Lakmal being often injured and largely ineffective, we didn't get enough from our overseas players this year - though Zaman Khan was good in the T20.
Hopefully we get more from Mohammad Amir and whoever else comes in next season.

If those couple of early drops in the slips in their innings had of been held, it could have been a different story 😉
Should have had Umeed later on as well. Looked a routine catch for Harry Came but he left it for Haider who then couldn’t get there 🤦♂️

Reece was fuming as he walked off. His very words were ‘that’s the worst decision I have ever seen’. You perhaps can give him the benefit of the doubt. The rest ….
Ah yeah I forgot about that, he didn’t look happy. Couldn’t really tell from the replay on the stream, but we’ve had a few shockers in this competition, which doesn’t help when you’re already struggling.

9-3 Reece, Wood, and Came. Finishing the completion with the worst performance of the lot.
-
2-2 in the second over….
and Haider Ali comes out to bat for Derbyshire for the last time. He’s off to play for Pakistan in the Asian games.
-
Somerset 333-5
330 is about right at Derby, but this batting lineup relies so much on Reece, Came and Haider, I’d be lying if I said I was confident we can chase this.

Looking forward to it tomorrow. My fifth time at the county ground this season and yet to see a win. To be fair I did spend a period of nine years without seeing them win once so I can take 5 games 😂
I have a great record when taking my daughter to Derby/Derbyshire of them winning every time except once (playoff semi final 1st leg vs Leeds), obviously we don’t go that regularly or that wouldn’t last 😂

Squad for the last one day cup game against Somerset.
Wagstaff in the squad, and for me should play. Maybe at 3 and move Wood down the order as its been a disaster for him there. Leave Dal out to rest his injured hand/finger.
Win and we guarantee finishing about Somerset and Sussex, and can possibly level with Northants…who were hoping to qualify if they beat us yesterday and won their last game.

Victory.
A match-winning 63 not out from Matt Lamb, how I wish we had more opportunity to see that this season. Hopefully his back problems are behind him, but I thought I saw a few suspicious stretches and winces during his innings. Maybe im just being paranoid…

Bowled Northants out for 201
Where’s that performance been then?
Northants did well to scrape up to 200, that is partly due too a blatantly obvious run out not being given, one of the Northants commentators even called it out as it happened.
Anyway, the bowling, the pitch looks a bit sticky and favored the bowlers more than most white ball pitches these days, but there was one thing we did today we haven't done all season - consistent line and length. There was no freebies for the Northants batters to get away to the boundary, that builds pressure and amazingly, wickets come with that.
Moore almost leading the way bowling accurately and Conners followed him, that could be the best I've seen Conners bowl. He's always been a wicket taker, but bowling tightly has always been a problem. Reece finally got it right with his pace variations and the spinners bowled well, including Wood.
Dal had a trip to the hospital for a possible broken finger early in the innings, but was back fielding at the end.
-
Harry Moore opening the bowling, 4 overs 1-16. He really is already our best bowler 😂

Have we lost more games before in a season? This year has been embarrassing.
Probably, we won 6 games in the T20, add the one from the one day cup and I'm sure we’ve won less than 7 a few times post-2000
The really disappointing thing is I honestly believe we've got a good squad of players (though the bowling outside of T20 has looked weak) but it's just not worked this season.
Plenty of draws in the championship as well, my maths says 15 defeats all together, time to add to that of course 😬
