People who stand/sit at the bar in pubs, meaning that you have to shout your drinks order over their shoulders from 6 foot away from the barman. We get that you're a "regular" but you're annoying

The phrase - "it's a real page turner" - as a compliment to a book.
Of course it is, how do you expect to read the thing?

I've already heard the Pogues, Wizzard and Slade 3 times today, so...
The failure by society to stick to the implicitly agreed schedule of Christmas.
I.E no mention of it before at least December 1st.

But the attritional cricket has to be against top oposition .. I still remember the series against the Aussies in the 70's when Lillie and Thompson we blasting holes through everyone and along came David Steele who looked like a manager from Curries, played a straight bat and kept them out and took the edge off them. Some great tense matches.

Really slow, attritional, safety-first play in cricket and snooker.
Alan Partridge goes freganing.
When one of your favourite songs is played on the radio.
Making oblique references to TV/music/films in conversation and the person you are with getting it.
When the air vents in your car all line up together perfectly.
Sometimes, mostly around this time of year when the sun is rising or setting and the sky looks like this:

This forum .. No I really mean it. I am conversing on a regular basis with folk from numerous different backgrounds and with political, social and sporting beliefs that aren't the same. Yet we all get on pretty damn well. There is a fantastic, fun, sometimes combative exchange of opinion but always in a brilliantly open self policed way. Yeah, we have our "mates" of like mind but it is great to come across a different view and have your own shifted just a few degrees because someone has made you think outside your own boundaries.
Jeees I really am thinking of parting with some folding stuff as a gesture of support and become a plus or whatever it is.
owners / operators take a bow.

Customer service lines belonging to major companies that cost you money to call them.
The basic outline being ....We aren't doing a good job relative to something we promised to do for an agreed sum.
So to resolve this, you need to pay us to sort it and that payment is open ended while we keep you on hold.
And the PS to this is companies that strive to keep themselves distant from their customers via FAQ's / no reply emails / incomplete contact info.
The aim is a "no people" interaction service which forgets completely that customers are people. Sad

Charities.
If it weren't for them then many people would be suffering and the Government wouldn't be able to get away with murder.
So many good people out there doing all they can to help others.

My mum!
Despite having had many difficulties in her life including a disability from birth that doctors told my grandparents would mean she'd never live past her 7th birthday and then she'd never walk unaided and then she wouldn't be able to have children, she remains the most positive, generous and cheerful person I know.
If I'm feeling a little low, a quick chat with mum soon lifts my mood.

My wife ... She has been listening to me talking about the Renaissance of Darren Bent with a look that varies between glaze eyed disinterest (with a tolerant smile) and outright boredom. She has been icing a Christmas cake today and told me with great enthusiasm an hour ago that Darren Southcake was the New England manager

Agreed & this bit pees me off no end.
I use the WEQ4U app on iPhone for the costly phone lines. It calls them via a normal landline for you and then will stay on hold for you & ring you back when you get through to an operator. It's worked well for me loads of times.

Weather forecasters making a big deal of possible 'overly wintry' weather. Such as low temperatures and snow.
Someone should tell them it's winter. It's what happens.

Stupid instructions, which usually consist of 20% instruction, 80% Cautioning statements, some of which range from bizarre to idiotic.
I give you one example, from the instructions for my Halfords Digital Tyre Inflator.
"Do not use the inflator when the vehicle is moving."
How disappointing.
