Doesn't add up to me this one. Quite possibly another player that would divide opinion.

Isn't that the case of every transfer rumour account on Twitter?  This is why i hate the post-season.  Roll on the Euro's simply so we have a distraction.

No but I heard that Gdańsk was a kind of Polish Liverpool so the seaside part might be a bit like Southport. Bring us a stick of rock 🍻

It’s difficult to make a true comparison with Ebou. Francois has been playing for a team that narrowly avoided relegation so you’d expect him to be exposed to more defensive duties. I also often question such stats. On the basis of those figures what on earth has Ebou been doing all game, why is he such a fans favourite and why would we all love it if we could sign him? I must be missing something.

I would take him back.  I think we saw some promising moments with him and he clearly fits the age/pace/good human characteristics elements. And he knows the club, and the demands. So far so good.
His injury record being the problem which I would mitigate not on a play for pay contract but a limited contract renewal in our favour  eg one year with a second year dependant on numbers of games played, bonuses based on appearances as well as goals etc. In the end he may have clubs willing to take more of a risk than us financially - he has a good reputation in a position that’s in short supply and therefore valuable. But if we want him enough he appeared to enjoy his time with us so that may work in our favour.

I feel like there's a top player in there, but it's a huge risk. Unless he's essentially playing for a contract then I don't think we can take the punt. The club have shown they've got a ruthless streak by ditching Gayle, and they've got a team of physios and sports scientists who will be able to give us rough estimate how many games TJJ will be able to play per season. I'd love him to sign and be fit forever more, but I'd also love a lot of things that I've got zero chance of so...

Now you see that’s interesting as a statement, I think you’re wrong. I agree, I would not be comfortable paying big fees for 30+ players but, would be very happy to get the odd quality 32 year old on a FREE. Everyone needs and earns wages. Their age is unimportant if their ability is useful. The difficult bit is the capital outlay. If it’s a free then the equation is very simple. Is player X at 32 worth his  pay cheque ?. .. it’s a whole different game if the statement is .. is he worth his paycheque and the 500 grand that we will never recoup because he isn’t going to improve and have zero resale due to that and a shortish contract length. Nothing wrong with older players. It’s the balance of cost and contract length. Youth and experience it’s all about the blend/mix/balance/cost.

I bet my bottom dollar there is a figure DC has on the table that will marry with turnover. What that is I don’t know but I’d bet my second bottom dollar that it won’t be 117% of turnover.
Its a wage heavy industry - everyone knows that but if we are turning over 30 million I would be surprised if wages are more than 20 million
    40 players at 10k a week = 20 million
There will be a fair few single figure thousands and some edging at 15k but I seriously doubt basic salaries offered will be more than this if we are to be sustainable/ break even. Those legacy contracts that clubs have from pre Covid will be pretty much run out. Parachute clubs apart, the championship world has to/is changing.

Maybe I am naive but even if this is inaccurate, it’s coming for all those clubs without an indulgent sugar daddy or gambler as an owner. We are one of them.

I don’t know where you got these numbers from , but if I take the Millwall figures which are in the public domain their wages and salaries were for 22/23  £22.6million on a turnover of £19.4million i.e wages to revenue of 117% so I do not see where the figures quoted above are sourced fromand their total expenditure was £30.3 million giving a loss of £12.2 million which included player sales of £2.5 million, Millwall finished 8th in 22/23 Given that the Rams will have revenue of a maximum £30 million I cannot see DC putting £10million of his own cash to cover any debt and pay wages/salaries of £420,000 a week to match a mid table team like Millwall, don’t forget the business plan is to break even.

Have the details of wages for the season just finished been released? I thought the most recent accounts are for the 2022/23 season.
Is the wage budget per fan based on how much each club spends for everyone £1 spent by a supporter? In which case I'm sure that more clubs are spending more than they are bringing in. Even National League teams are and the Championship is becoming just as crazy as the premier league when it comes to spending.
I think it's hard to put a figure on our budget exactly. I feel like its fair to say we are much bigger than a number of teams in the championship in terms of fanbase, infrastructure and the club in general, but they are a number of teams who will just spend ridiculous money that Clowes (rightly) won't be willing to do.
