  1. Yes...................................................if you could guarantee that Seddon played like that most weeks, but sadly, it seems that it was a bit of a one off performance from him (he's ranked at 219 on whoscored, com stats at a very average 6.57, even below our much maligned Korey Smith). It's a bit unfair to call time on Elder, after all, he was only making his third start in an injury ravaged season, but then we love to slag off some our own players at the drop of a hat.
  2. It may have failed to catch your attention that the installation, problems and first prosecutions and lying in courts happened under the Blair/Brown governments. It's well documented that they knew about it, but didn't want to upset the 'applecart'. Unfortunately, rarely do we have box to tick, whereby we get a politician who looks after us first and foremost.
  3. Not a chance this month, but should he stay at Notts and we got promotion, I could see it happening then.
  4. Even non-league players command a fee, if they're under contract or under 24. We even had to pay non-league Worcester City about 15k for Roger Davies in the 70s, something that could not have done over the last few years. The only players that we have been able to sign are frees. This means that they're out of contract and over 24 years old. Generally speaking players whose contract has run down, are not sufficiently wanted by their club to have been offered a decent contract early enough.
  5. I think that this is why Warne wants to play 3 at the back. Ideally, we need 2 strikers, a wide player on both wings and 3 in the middle. Unfortunately, that only leaves 3 players at the back. This calls for a special type of player to play in the wing back positions. You can end up with players who don't do enough as a winger or a fullback in this situation or are stronger in one of the positions.
  6. Not surprised by this, their away numbers last night must have been well over half the number that go to the home games. They probably only turn up for home games against big opposition in the cups or Derby. All credit to the club though, for being able to compete with the likes Derby on crowds of 3,000.
  7. Looking back, I don't think that Peter Shilton, would have stopped those 3 goals and he can't make any saves if the other teams don't give him savable attempts to stop.
  8. Perhaps, Warne felt that our back up keeper needed a bit more match practice, in case he's needed later in the season? After a couple of less than perfect games for Wildsmith and to bring him in against 'lesser' opposition might be deemed a good decision. It would be better for him to have some experience with the other first teamers rather being thrown in at the deep end because of a Wildsmith injury/suspension before the Bolton or Barnsley type games. Him and Wildsmith bring different things to the table, I liked his quicker distribution, especially throwing out to the wide players. However, he's not as confident as Wildsmith in dealing with crosses. I don't blame him for either goal last night, they were both right in the corner.
  9. There's been a lot of comments regarding the poor substitutions, but with the advantage of hindsight, would the 'correct' substitutions have resulted in a win, as well? We'll never know, we may well be second in the table now, but I'll take the result and the euphoria of the injury time winner for now.
  10. It wasn't 1 on 1 though, Elder was on his own waiting to pick up a clearance. At the moment they headed the ball clear, their goalscorer was the most forward player, just outside his own area. Our closest player was CH and didn't/couldn't keep up with him. Credit where credit is due, the Burton players executed the perfect break from defence. Elder could have been a bit closer, but the striker was running full tilt at him and on to a prefect pass in front of him.
  11. I can't see how Burton deserved anything out of the game, other than the two goals given to them by two individual errors, I can't remember one decent chance for them, they didn't have any other chance on goal. Whereas, NML could have done better when clean through twice, Collins could have done better with his golden opportunity and Barks shot was well blocked by their no3.
  12. I've just remembered a thought that I had going into injury time tonight, I looked up into that inky black sky and said "come on B4 give us a hand", you didn't let us down, mate.🐏

We could have had the same conversation before Fozzy's testimonial, about Waggy. It's a pity he hasn't been able to stay fit. Having said that, should we read more into the fact that CM didn't play in Fozzy's testimonial, despite them both playing together for a number of years and CM looking for a club at the time?

Question; We're at the end of the window and haven't managed to get anyone in, CM is still available, would you take him? I would, but then again, I'd take almost anyone in for back up.
  15. Birmingham's problems are largely down to their own making, fortunately for me, I live just over the border in Solihull. There have been 2 big financial disasters for Birmingham council, first they lost a £760m equal pay case TWELVE YEARS ago, but have ignored it and taken no action until they have been forced to address the situation. Then during this time they have installed an IT system which should have cost £19m, but ended up costing £100m. The incompetence of the council has been bordering criminal, especially when you take into consideration all of the usual reckless spending that goes on with most councils.
  16. But didn't they let our failed bidders pass the fit owners test, the fake sheik and Kirchner?
  17. If that happens, a few of us should become red dogs and invade the pitch for a few of their games to be called off. It's a dangerous precedent, closure or partial closure of the ground would be quite effective.
  18. I think that if the club have your view on things, we'll never be able to sign anyone. Less than 5k a week for a top player in lg1 at a big club, that's pure fantasy, I'm afraid. According to Salary Sport, the average of the top 100 lg1 players is over 360k, you would argue that CBT is a keynote signing at this level and will be quite high up in that top 100. Also bear in mind that those figures are for current contracts, CBT's contract will be based on the next 3 years and not the last 3. Also, we know that CH is on 600k and I would think that NML's new contract will be in excess of 500k, don't you think that CBT's agent will be pushing to match those figures?
  19. If we are in for CBT, it's all about 2 clubs meeting somewhere in the middle. Our negotiating strategy will be to point out that Charlton get a small fee now rather than nothing in the summer whilst paying an unsettled player's wages for 6 months. Also, any lingering hopes of making the play offs are disappearing and could be finally extinguished before the end of the month. Charlton will rely on Derby needing CBT to be a crucial signing in order to achieve promotion. CBT can't help but wanting to sort his future out asap and go to the best club offering the best package available to him, the uncertainty can't be good for him atm.
  20. I disagree, at the very worst, he could be a 'Bielik, Flo Jo or Anya', costing us 500k transfer fee and around 500k per year wages for a player constantly injured or who doesn't perform. But then, that's no different to any other player, we should know by now, that there is no guarantee with any player that you'll get a return on him or even break even.
  21. Sky sports news reported that the casualty had left in an ambulance after the match had been delayed only 20 minutes though, not much longer than some VAR decisions, that's why I was asking if a reason had been given.
  22. What was the reasoning behind today's abandonment? The players were only off for 20 mins before the unfortunate fan was taken to hospital? Surely they could have safely warmed up again and as distressing as it was for those few people involved, it's going to cause a great deal of inconvenience and cost, at least, for around 20,000 fans. Out of those 20,000 there is a likely hood that someone going to the replayed game will be involved in some kind of trauma, which otherwise would not have happened. I'm sure that Bolton won't be happy with another mid week fixture to arrange.
  23. 'Pompy' have gone from running away with it to effectively being outside the autos with both Bolton and Pboro being ahead of them on a PPG basis. P'boro are looking a bit like Ipswich from last season atm, I'm hoping that a fixture pile up will slow down Bolton, after this weekend they will have at least 4 more midweek games than we will and that's assuming that they lose their next 2 cup games.
  24. Sky sports just confirmed the abandoning of the game, I would expect another points deduction or be made to play in an empty stadium. If not then disgruntled fans everywhere will be given licence to get games called off.
  25. That will tempt us, we love to sign an injury prone player.😉
