I thought England played quite well. Especially as for so much of the match Harry Kane gave them nothing to work with. He didn't pull his man out of position or threaten any area of the pitch. Just played his position on paper.
But if England haven't looked like world beaters... who has?
Italy? Not so impressive vs Austria. They've not exactly had a tough route themselves yet and already look like the one footed Insigne is carrying their attacking threat. Their next best is a LB. They have been good but they got problems of their own to address.
Portugal? France have an incredible side on paper? Germany? These are champions and leading nations. And all have under performed against lesser sides and found themselves put out at their first real test.
Belgium... again, they've just faded in games like England. Moments of matches they just let pass by. As good as they are on the counter they can look a bit flat themselves when not hitting on the break
Spain have looked very dodgy. Again, still seem to be in love with their passing. As soon as someone has a real go at them they look rattled. They're here to play beautiful football. In moments their opponents haven't shown them too much respect they've looked vulnerable
I really don't think any team has looked like they can't be stopped. Including England who seem to lack creativity at times.
But England have what, 6 or 7 very high level creative players to fill 4 positions. So I wouldn't bet against them coming up with solutions if asked to. They're defensive by choice rather than lack of talent.

In the thread 'Rooney In', @Highgate argued one of the reasons we should dispense with Rooney's services is:
"Sacking him will mean we won't have to look at the 'Wayne Rooney's DCFC fans' anymore."
To the mods.... Help us reclaim our club. Even if we must have a celebrity in the managerial hot seat, and it seems we must, then at least let this forum lead the way in showing the world that the club is bigger than any individual.
    Derby County Football Club.
Then we can say things like "DCFC's manager Wayne Rooney..... needs to get wins".

Cardiff saved us from relegation and the boys having passion today because I saw no management tactics on display there. We just ran around a lot and for once it worked out into a draw.
We have not won in fifteen games mate.

You’re not the only one who is tired. Why do you constantly follow me around trying to get the upper hand?
You keep suggesting I am negative, but people tend to be positive when there is something to be positive about.
That’s what you don’t get - no-one is rejoicing. No-one is glad to be right. No-one is even being negative.
The club is in a mess, so how can you expect sunshine and rainbows? People are just calling it for what it is - a mess!
I’ve seen some terrible sides under Gregory, Brown, Jewell and Clough. Can you honestly be surprised that people like myself anticipate the worst when it comes to Derby County?
Look at that prediction thread the other week about the last 7 games of the season.
You waded in saying that I was negative by predicting we’d only get 4 points from 21.
We are on course to do even worse than that! And yet I am negative?
Give it a rest. This is a tough time for everyone.

Not for the first time, I'm with @angieram on this one.
I've supported Derby for over 40 frustrating years, sometimes up, mostly down, and recently I've found myself pondering on what it actually means to support the club.  After all, there is almost no link between the Derby of the late '70s and that of today - not the players, manager, owners; not even the ground.  Perhaps the kit, if you squint in a low light...
I think it was Rowett's preposterous sale of Will Hughes that really crystallised it for me - it's through the development of the club's young players that I most identify with the club.  I really enjoy watching young football players develop; like the vicarious thrill of hearing fans of other teams talk about "that young Derby player" they've seen; even more so when, like Buchanan this season, they show it on a bigger stage.
That's why, after yesterday's disappointment, I found myself looking at other results - Will Hughes at Watford, obviously, but also Jack Stretton at Stockport, Farrend Rawson (& Nigel Clough) at Mansfield, Charles Vernam at Bradford, wondering where JH-I is at Stevenage....  These players (and manager) are always "Derby" to me.
And so, after Rooney's ill-advised public comments about Louie Sibley yesterday, I no longer care whether Rooney goes or stays.  For me, Derby County isn't about Wayne Rooney, it's about Louie Sibley, Max Bird, Lee Buchanan and the others.   Keep going, boys.

Publicly criticising a 19 year old after coming on as a sub doesn't strike me as great man management

Yep, Rooney is being a right rick. He's regularly the most impactful sub (even when it's usually only 10 minutes he's given) and it's always, "he needs to do more." Meanwhile Waghorn, Jozwiak, Gregory etc. get much more chances than him and have been woeful for the majority of the time, yet seem to receive much less criticism than Sibley.
