  1. I'm not sure thie vision many of have CBT on one wing and NML on the other will be be in effect as often they're imagining, although I'm not saying it'll never happen. One of the only big downsides mentioned by Charlton fans is CBTs lack of defensive effort and contribution and we don't exactly have high expectations of NML in that regard, so playing them both wide at the same time could be defensive suicide. Niambe may cope down the right, but from what we've seen of Elder (and as his career history would show) he's a good overlapping fullback playing in tandem with his winger, but you don't want to be leaving him exposed as he doesn't seem the calm/composed type.
  2. The closest I can think of for us is Stephen Bywater. Emergency loan announced on the same day we played Hull away, straight into the starting lineup. BBC has it being confirmed around 1PM for a 5:30 kick off, but it was a complete surprise to me as I'd spent the preceeding 24 hours away from home with no internet access and only saw the result of the game late that night. He was one of 2 signings made just before the game but I can't remember who the other one was.
  3. If it was abaondoned after 50 minutes with us 5-0 up, we'd be deducted 3 points. Reason being that clearly the actions of the Derby County and its players could be seen to be 'taking the piss' out of disadvantaged Reading, thus inciting their fans and therefore causing the pitch invasion.
  4. Bloody pathetic innit? Even if Toney hadn't moved the ball and had taken it from its original posiiton it would still have been a goal.
  5. I guess, but it would be pointless us signing a different kind of striker (especially on loan) when the team isn't set up to make use of them. If the aim is just to get out of this league at all costs I can't really think of any better option.
  6. Named captain today + another goal and assist
  7. Must have been an enthralling post match interview today. Anything worth repeating?
  8. Did we make sure we took something from the game, or did Lincoln do that for us?
  9. A goalscoring winger who shoots more than most strikers.
  10. Answered your own question there, before you'd asked it. ..but as I'll say every time someone brings this up, the midfield enforcer isn't part of Warne's plans and end to end open play is annoying (and entertaining) but also a big part of why we're successful in the first place. Anyone expecting things to change may be in for a long wait.
  11. Just sounds like the typical Derby performance when we don't score, get lucky that the opposition can't finish despite our tactics leaving us open to counter attacks and then go on to win it.
  12. Brentford have lost 7 of their last 8 league games though. It would take a pretty damn poor performance not to beat them.
  13. ...or any any other sort of Mastermind!
  14. Not really addressing this point, but i kept getting distracted with the number of times during the Winkleman said "Harry & Paul" in the narration, I kept expecting these two to turn up...
  15. As our new investor when it's revealed that he spent the couple of million he stole from us on some crazy high risk bets and won, before finally feeling a pang of guilt and deciding to make amends.
  16. The history books show that to be the case, but these days it would have been attributed to an OG from the keeper.
  17. The way it's presented by some it's almost as if we had to 'settle' for signing Washington. ...but he was signed by our current manager for that very 'struggling Championship clu' with the aim of building a team capable of staying up, so surely he's seen as (and should be capable of being) more than a 'squad fiiller' at this level? Christ I don't know why it took me so many edits to word that how I wanted.
  18. Did they actually though? Or did they just say he'd been disappointing / poor when playing a wing back role which didn't suit him, while being critical of his defensive work (neither of which he's asked to do here). Back to Moxon there was one post on that site which wasn't trying to attribute the poor form to things going on above him, but it's hard to know whether it was cutting through the s*** to find the truth or adding another unfounded theory. The post suggested that Leaue One football was simply a step too far for him, that it's too quick for him.
  19. A big black mark against his mentality and ability to deal with pressure then. Carlisle are his hometown club and he's talked of the great debt he owes to Simpson, but the prospect of a move to a team at the sharp end of League One makes him perform so poorly that some of the fans effusive with praise regarding his performances last season would happily get rid of him because they think they can do better?
  20. Not sure where this idea that people don't understand that there are 11 opposition players on the pitch comes from, that it's inevitable the other team will have a good spell / throw everything at you when you're in the lead, and that there's nothing you can do to stop it. I've watched Derby put out pee poor performances too many times to count over the years, seen many matches where we've been dominated from first whistle to last without looking like we could lay a glove on the opposition, read countless posts to that effect from people complaining that we were toothless, offered no threat in games, were lacking effort etc. People said it plenty under Cocu. Yet when the shoe's on the other foot...
  21. Await similar responses to CBT when we're not a team set up to allow him the far more shots than his ability deserves.
  22. Without the class. He shoots a lot and he scores a lot via the brute force method... at League One level. Stat-boosted individually yet never a critical part of a team achieving more than their individual talent deserves. A central midfield version of Thomas Ince. Avoid.
