  1. It's only part of the reason tbf.
  2. Excellent, cheers. I won't be at home so this means I can watch it on the Virgin TV Go App, no need to look for a dodgy route of accessing it.
  3. Meanwhile The Guardian has us safe, or at least seem to have forgotten we exist! https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/aug/07/championship-2024-25-preview-contenders-hopefuls-strugglers
  4. Another prediction for relegation, but at least in 22nd. https://betting.betfair.com/football/championship/efl-championship-preview-and-tips-3-1-leeds-top-1-24-season-predictions-060824-766.html "Derby were worthy promotion winners with an industrious, no-frills approach under Paul Warne that's built from the back and designed to utilise transitions and set-pieces. Whether the former Rotherham chief - a great motivator - can evolve his style at this level remains questionable after enduring relegation campaigns with the Millers. The solid base remains, and the Rams are unlikely to be easy meat. But do they possess the squad-strength, firepower and second-tier stardust to justify market expectations of a mid-table finish? The workmanlike outfit look limited in key areas and anything better than a bottom-eight scrap has to be considered a big success for County supporters"
  5. Where's the idea that a donkey can't kick come from anyway?
  6. We scored 2 from set pieces but neither of them were due to quality of delivery. However it's not Hourihane's delivery we may miss it's Sibley's. Osborn and Ward are better at it than Sibley, but if either or both are injured... maybe Goudmijn?
  7. Neither Ozoh or Osborn are likely to change the fundamentals of how we play though. One is doubling up and potentially improving on Adams the other doubling up and (I'd say clearly) improving on Thompson, should he be able to stay fit. I think if we get a proper hold up / linking CF (although I've been pleasantly surprised by Yates in that regard) then things may change, but if we get a number 9 who's primarily there to win headers it's unlikely we'll divert from out aversion to spending much time playing it centrally.
  8. Hopefully, but relying on one player (as things stand) to revolutionise our entire attacking approach seems a bit of a push.
  9. Unless I'm talking to Paul Warne directly here, I'm not asking him to do anything, I'm asking whether he could, and whether you consider the higher than average number of misinterpretations of his interviews to be solely down to idiotic and lazy fans. You don't have to change your entire personality to be a bit more concise and clear in interviews. Aside from a few standout moments (people refusing to accept what McClaren said about Newcastle) I can't remember other managers interviews requiring this much explanation to people.
  10. And you don't think there's anything Warne could say or do differently that would help stop these misunderstandings from happening in the first place? Nothing at all about his interview style that leads to misinterpretation?
  11. Who are you accusing of doing that?
  12. Not everyone has time or is always in the right environment to find wherever the interview is playing, navigate and listen to it in full. As such they rely on someone quoting him or providing a written summary. His interviews often end up trying to be everything to everybody and there's usually an element of stream-of-consciousness style waffle, sometimes contracting himself the very next second after he's said something. That and the obligatory jokey comments tend to confuse matters. There's also the issue that some things are harder to convey when put to text and don't always come across as intended, especially true of intended humour. He could help himself out at times by not trying to be the comedian, or by giving the occasional stock answer, but then again he needs that to maintain the cult of personality that surrounds him.
  13. Lovely colours and this particular geometric design doesn't appear to be in use by any other team, so again like the away kit it's unique to us. The pattern itself doesn't really stand out and the colours (whilst nice) are too safe to be interesting, so it's falls below the away kit in the rankings. However it's 3 very good kits.
  14. Spot on. The environment 'in the camp' is evidently very inclusive but Warne wants 'ready to order' good guys who'll fit into the group right off the bat without causing any behind the scenes disruptions, he's not a rehabilitator of poor character or someone who wants to be dealing with multiple clashing egos. I'm not sure he'd even be as willing to have someone like Robbie Savage around as Clough was. It's similar to what we've seen from him with regard to developing youngsters, if at all possible he'd rather someone else do the bulk of it until the player is 'Championship Ready' (or whichever league) and represents as little risk as possible. This kid sounds like an absolute nightmare.
  15. Obviously. It was a thought experiment, nothing more nothing less.
  16. That's not what I'm saying at all. It has merit in terms of assessing him as a third tier manager, and his potential in the 2nd tier. Until that potential is realised it's all ifs buts and maybes. Like a player who regularly shines / scores in one league but never quite makes the step up - say, Jason Koumas. You wouldn't consider him a PL standard player but he regularly looked too good for the Championsip. We've got someone above throwing McClaren under the bus and calling him a clown because he didn't manage to get us promoted to the PL, negatively comparing him to Warne because he got us promoted from League One. It's ridiculous.
  17. Ah, so upper mid table. Works for me.
  18. Aye, correct answer. However... What if your final position is decided by name alone? It seems unfair to suggest that despite identical records, Blackburn should be declared an upper mid table team and Derby lower mid table. Perhaps in such an instance, a mid mid table can exist?
  19. Ohhh haha. You got me. Wooooo. Back on ignore you go. I'd say have a nice life but I wouldn't mean it.
  20. The first thing Barker did was get Bury promoted. Granted he was sacked from the jobs after that after poor runs of form, but no worse than anything Warne (or any other manager) produces. Every manager is at the mercy of a chairman and many of them have itchy trigger fingers. Warne's worked under two very forgiving and patient chairmen. Besides I'm talking present day - not 8 to 12 years ago - of the now well established management trio at the helm and all of the history behind them that leads to them being a good team.
  21. Hey, at least I'm capable of making people laugh. More than anyone can say for your monotonous, personality-free petty little existence.
  22. I needed a good laugh this morning and seeing Warne described as a master tactician has provided that, so thanks guys! I think the coaches he surrounds himself with are very good and they clearly work well together as a team, with his personality placing him as the public face of it all, but I get a strong impression that Barker/Hamshaw would do better without Warne than Warne would do without Barker/Hamshaw. As with everything Warne, the measure of his abilities will be in how we do at Championship level, not how we've done in League One. Do well this season and I'll maybe start to believe he's the brains behind the operation, or at least that his tactics actually have some depth to them.
  23. Another ridiculous, OTT, uppity and wholly indignant overreaction to a pretty simple comment. f*** me does any and every perceived negative comment have to be met with righteous defence as if someone's s******* in mouths of all things holy? I was responding to the poster who said 'good luck with that', not Warne's comment. Warne's message is fine, using it to throw shade at other posters/fans isn't. The way any dissenting or doubtful voices are positioned as 'the enemy' is bloody annoying.
