  1. Talk about an overreaction. The tone of my first post clearly wasn't all that serious and is mainly me taking the piss out of myself. However I do mention a "level of twattery" which refers to certain elements of the crowd's behaviour which put me off the idea of going to watch it live, and I stick by that description. Large groups of pissed up 'lads' (wherever they may be) can be amongst other things: borish, mindless, raucous, disrespectful of others. If you go to watch the darts you know that there will be plenty of this type of behaviour and more than any other sport it actually seems to be actively encouraged. It doesn't follow that I think everyone involved is, or that I'm personally calling anyone out as, a t***. As for 'pathetic and embarrassing' that's a comment specifically about the Yaya/Kolo Toure chant - I find it utterly cringeworthy as I do pretty much all 'orchestrated participation', doubly so when there's no apparent rhyme or reason behind it. Again I don't think that's an inaccurate description but again I'm not using those words to describe the people chanting it.
  2. Plus he clearly doesn't want to leave Bristol (the place) as he waited around so long after his release from City to sign for Rovers.
  3. Azaz has been excellent for Plymouth this season alongside Whittaker, oozes class and they feed off each other brilliantly.
  4. Pathetic and embarrassing, is what it is. Especially when the explanation / justification for it is basically that it's suitable for 4 year olds.
  5. We could probably have done with some more ex-Rotherham tbh, it would have made our transition toward emulating their play-style a bit quicker than the 15 months it's taken so far.
  6. Reckon someone would need to double that before Plymouth even bothered to respond.
  7. Failing to even reach the playoffs, by however small a margin, would be a massive failure and I'm not sure how anyone could say with good faith (only blind faith) that they'd trust him to carry on and achieve promotion the following season. He will get us in the play-offs at the very least though, so it's a moot point.
  8. I like playing darts, or at least I did until I reached the limit of my abilities and realised I was still s***, worse still the frustration of it seems to play into me being ever s******. i was racking up the 180s a few years ago (I've got the keyrings to prove it 😆) , not that being able to hit 180s makes you a good player, fat chance of me hitting one now. I own about 70 different sets, because they're a bit of a design marvel and its fun to throw different barrels. I don't have much interest in actually watching it though, don't really get much chance anyway as I don't have Sky Sports, and the idea of attending an event and being surrounded by a crowd of that level of twattery, coupled with the lack of any decent beverages, makes it a no-no. Still chanting irrelevant s*** about about Kolo and Yaya Toure in 2023/24? Really? Besides I think the players are just too good nowadays. It used to be a rare and special thing for someone to hit a 9 darter now they seem ten a penny. A player being out-of-this-world good at 16 years old... not gonna lie I'm bloody jealous. Naturally gifted people piss me off lol.
  9. I was just going to set this to start at his goal but thought it was a rather enjoyable match all-round and he's involved quite a lot. Will probably be disappointed he only scored one tbf. Not sure there are many players out there who can strike a ball so cleanly but we saw that here - it's the power he gets behind his shots I don't think we were witness to.
  10. 100% agreed. Essentially, IMO, some people trust Warne to provide that, some don't
  11. As always I don't include your good self in comments about told you so's etc. My issue is with the blind faithers who, given opportunity to put considered arguments forward for why the doubters should keep faith, could never really come up with a substantiated answer but have seen recent good form as cause to feather their nest and "s*** on the b******* below" as it were and take the high ground. Again, you have never been part of that group and you're a poster who's opinion I value, you've never resorted to any of the underhand b******* a few specialise in.
  12. I get where you're coming from but I'm looking at Cashin in isolation. As you say some stuff can simply be put down as experience, but I think Cashin is proving that class is permanent, I think that (to a degree) the idea that he's improved is based on him having a poor spell of form earlier this season under Warne and sometimes people forget how good he was last season. I'm not sure I agree the mood has turned, I've not read any proper slaggings off on the back of today, just reasoned analysis. I haven't seen anything that matches the "told you so's" which have come from some quarters with our good form, I just think it's served as a reminder that not all of the criticisms of Warne's overall performance should be dismissed and thrown under the a blanket with 'haters' embroided on it.
  13. What is it you think he's doing better now than he was under Rooney when playing against a higher level of opponent? IMO he looked good enough on first appearance for a top end Championship club and he still looks like a top end Championship CB now.
  14. And yet all of that was achieved within the first 3 months of the start of last season. What amazes me is the constant need to keep doing ourselves down and keep beating ourselves up over the actions of one man, despite all the evidence on the pitch and with the hindsight of watching us play 70 games in this league pointing to promotion in that time frame being entirely plausibly or even expected, even if not demanded.
  15. Not sure that one passes the test tbf. He's gone from making an immediate impression as a surprisingly accomplished Championship CB to, unsurprisingly, being a highly accomplished League One CB. I think he's maintained his standard rather than improved.
  16. As per the end of the post I agree that he's replaced players who left with better suited players, what I meant was had be replaced any players who were still here with options who have proven themselves better than a player he had the option to use.
  17. My post was more was about improving on players we have available. I think Warne has improved areas where we previously didn't have a player natural to that position. There's no doubt Niambe is a better option than Smith/Knight as a RB. We previously didn't have or need a RWB so Wars and Wilson are obviously improvements in that regard. I don't think Washington offers us much of anything that would make a difference I think Warne's signings in areas we had nothing, are better than the players who inhabited that position but who are no longer here.
  18. I agree with you, it (Wilson) was too good an opportunity to turn down. I think of Ward as the modern day Ben Davies. Obviously talented and a brilliant crosser,.but you do have to carry him somewhat and he will never ever ever even be a RB.
  19. ...but are they the most reliable options because one of Warne's own signings (Fornah) has not yet shown enough signs to prove he should displace one of them, or has that addition not proved successful because Warne doesn't understand how best to use him? Similar to LB/LWB, is Elder a better option than Forsyth? Similar to CB, is Bradley a better option than Cashin? Is Washington a better option than Collins? Why did we sign Fornah? What's his role? Why did we sign Ward and Wilson? Ward isn't our best RB, he's not out best RW, arguable he's not even our best RWB. Has Warne brought in a player yet shows clearly better than whoever they were supposed to replace? FWIW I think Fornah, Elder, Nelson, Wilson, Ward, Washington, Bradley are all good signings individually, I just don't see how they make us better when we're talking about the team as a whole or it's collective functionality.
  20. Lucky that their player was needlessly stupid. We were unlucky that he wasn't sent off, however...
  21. Sell if we're determined to carry on with the midfield 'balance' we currently have because he's not having enough impact being played further forward, and isn't instinctively attacking enough or consistent enough in his shooting to lead our breakaways. There are times where it looks like playing him further forward has unlocked his potential but they're still outnumbered by the times the role doesn't seem to suit him and you're crying out for him to add some control from a deeper position. My opinion of the player himself doesn't matter all that much (it would always be a keep) but I'm more interested in what's best for them and best for us under whatever the current regime is.
  22. It's unrealistic to expect any defence to hold out without any real respite for as long as we were asked to today, especially against the highest scorers in the league. That's where it becomes a game management issue. If we score one of our breakaways to make it 3-1 it may be a different story, but I don't think we looked comfortable for any minute of that last half hour and the result doesn't seem to have surprised many.
  23. I was impressed with Peterborough, which I can't say for many teams we've faced this season, but only to a point. When given the space they were allowed for the first 15-20 minutes of the game they played the sort of football in possession we can only dream of seeing under Warne, but I think once we changed it to 3 at the back we pretty much nullified their threat (hence why I was lining up praise for Warne') & the tactical change and then the subs were all positive signs that Warne is improving, which is all I've ever asked for really. Denied space they're nothing special, not n the slightest, I don't think from that point on they actually played well, and I thought we were the better team (or at least comfortably kept them at arms length) until we took the lead. I maintain that there isn't a single team to fear in this league and I still don't see any reason why we shouldn't be pushing for that top 2, or that we shouldn't be favourites for promotion through the playoffs if it comes to that.
