Obviously we're yet to see what sort of calibre of new arrivals but with a modest budget compared to the teams with parachute cash sloshing about at the top of the table, there is only so much quality you can add with just out-of-contract players. I don't see us spending very much on fees at all and a mix of loans and out of contract players to supplement a couple of small-ish fees seem most likely.
With that in mind I'd be frankly amazed to see us in the promotion mix. I'm expecting bottom half, hopefully keeping out of any real relegation trouble. I do worry that some fans may think that the hard work is done now and we're back to where we were before all the financial stuff, but next year is going to need some real graft IMHO. I just hope that despite some optimistic predictions in some quarters about where we'll finish, that people stay realistic and can accept that just re-establishing ourselves in the Championship without really pulling up any trees will be a decent season.

As for you lot. I think you'd be lucky to find 3 teams again as poor as those relegated. You'll need to push on and avoid any points deductions but I'd expect you to finish bottom half but with less of a close shave with relegation - somewhere like 14th/15th perhaps.

If Warne remains in charge we will Yo-Yo between Championship and League One.
Oxford and Plymouth will probably struggle next season. I’m trying to see who else we can finish above, especially after QPR, Sheff Wed, Stoke, Swansea and Millwall all improved following managerial changes.
 

FYI - the bookies have us finishing 7th at the moment!!! Which to my mind is bonkers and based purely on fanbase and us being a big draw at championship level. 
Realistic goal for next season is bottom 8 and avoid relegation, aspirational goal is top half. 
 

I think Luton did better than expected, but even they were pretty abject overall. They could make a fight of it in most games, but the lack of quality and quantity in their squad really was obvious in their ability to blow leads and drop points. Look at the game against BMouth, absolutely criminal.
In all honesty, those two last minute draws against us really kept them afloat. Lose those (and without the points deduction) and we're 16 points clear of them. Burnley's home form was dreadful, and Sheff Utd have to be one of the worst teams to ever grace the PL. Even worse than their last outing. 
I see more of the same next season. As others have commented, the gap is widening, and those teams that already have established in the PL--which whether you like it or not, we've become--have a huge head start. 
Next season it'll be the bottom three plus us, Wolves, Fulham, Brentford, and probably BMouth. Palace look fantastic, why didn't we go for Glasner again?

I doubt it. They are just like Red Dawn , don’t care that people might be suffering and even dying as long as they have their brief resurrection back in the Prem.

In the first couple of years in the prem survival is the only thing that matters, once you get into year 3 you get full benefits of a permanent financial advantage of teams in the championship & every promoted team going forward.

This. The way things have been allowed to develop, there seems no alternative to spending heavily to even up the playing field to stand a chance of surviving. An amount that may not be sustainable if it doesn't work, even with parachute payments, if you drop into an uber-competitive top 8-10 of the championship with a bunch of similar clubs with parachute money eager for another go.
Sure, you might build a really fortunate blend of highly promising players in your promotion season that you can use most in your PL season, but you won't know that until it's either worked or you are already 12 points adrift at Christmas.
I think what sums this up is Sheff Utd. They've made Even Burnley and Luton look adequate. They've been absolute dog**** this season but who'd be surprised if they were right in the mix again next year in the Championship ?

You forgot to mention that the money is tainted and where it allegedly comes from. Those red dogs don’t seem to mind that it could be blood money that’s supporting them. 

Not even Forest will blow a 12 goal swing on the last game of the season. They’re safe. 
 
Saw some Plank on Twitter ranting against the world also say f*** Derby it hurts them us being in the big time. Sure we’d like to be  there but it would only hurt us if they were actually any good!! Their achievements:
Finished 16th and 17th (so getting worse)
Cheated FFP deducted points (got off very lightly) - that annoys me given how harshly we were treated im not going to lie. 

Whinged about decisions and corruption every week causing most neutrals to despise them 
Undermine officials during a match with owner going on the pitch
Appointed a ref consultant to undermine the refereeing governing body 
Put out numerous embarrassing statements from club Twitter account - the mafia type statement and who can forget “Playtime”
Alienated fan base with extortionate price rises and proposing to put a stadium in Toton!! They may as well change their name to Derby Forest if they do that!! 🤣
All while spending £250m and wage bill of £150m, up to the limits on FFP which means they’ll have to sell players!!  Let’s face it considering the investment they’ve had - they’ve been dog s*** and genuine comedy value for the majority of football fans.
Theyre following Leeds’ trajectory at the moment which means problems next season. I’m thinking back in championship next couple of seasons!!

I like the banter with @Red_Dawn, but it would be nice if he could admit that for the money they've spent they really should be doing much much better. We are rightly remembered as the worst team in Premier League history however the record books will not show relative spend of clubs and expectations of fans. I think we all knew that we would struggle. Forest fans were expecting a serious push for Europe.

Actually, in reality, I don’t think there was a real protest from our fans. 
Most, including myself, concluded we actually got off pretty lightly.
There certainly wasn’t the waves of protests like another midlands team who got docked points for being creative with the rules.

It’s almost as if coming up, spending some money, and actually having a reasonable go at it was worthwhile..
