The more I think about it, the more I'm concerned about the 2 post-match interviews on Radio Derby - Fozzy and Warne himself.  The Fozzy interview was weird, he sounded so demoralized, but the overriding impression was that the players clearly don't understand what they're being asked to do.  It sounded like the players were desperate for some guidance, but the only thing Warne could offer was telling them to run around more.  
And then Warne himself immediately comes out and says he takes full responsibility for the performance, and then spends the rest of the interview blaming the players for not running around enough and tackling enough.  There's clearly a massive disconnect between the squad and manager.

I’m still not convinced he’s worked it out. I think he was forced into it because we ran out of centre halves to play.  He even moved Sibley to wingback just to try and keep playing a back 3, before realising what a catastrophically stupid decision that was.

There’s literally no point discussing the midfield 3. If you were to sit down and design a system to deliberately make them look as bad as possible, it would probably be this system. The centre halves smash the ball forwards, we lose it, and then they break on us, leaving the midfield outnumbered and out of position. Hopefully we win it it back, smash it forwards again, rinse and repeat. The midfield get no real balls into feet, no passing options on the off chance they actually get to control the ball, and their only job is to run around like madmen cleaning up after the forwards lose the ball.

But that’s the entire point. If you’re scrabbling around to put a squad together, you can’t afford to give one manager 10 games to build a squad, and then get a diametrically opposed manager in to build a completely different squad. Honestly, to suit Warne we probably need to get rid of at least Chester, Davies, Roberts, NML Barkhuizen, Hourihane, Bird, Dobbin, Thompson, McGoldrick and replace them with new players. That’s almost our entire summer transfer dealings in the bin. It’s insane.

In this system? Watch the ball fly 30 yards over his head, then deal with the mess after Dobbin inevitably loses a header against a 6’3 centre half.

But that’s the entire point.
