CongletonRam reacted to Crewton in Derby vs Leyton Orient
Hmmm.... Evans did a notable job undoubtedly. Warnock came in for the last 16 games of the season, did his cavalry job, and then left. Taylor only kept them up thanks to the good start to the season they had under Warne (he's since been sacked).
Your statement about Warne "relegating Rotherham 3 times" doesn't tell the whole story either. The first relegation occured, unsurprisingly, after he'd been appointed interim manager (and their third of the season) when they'd picked up only 7 points from their first 18 games. The 2nd time, they were relegated after the penultimate game, and the 3rd time on a final day of the season that I'm sure we all remember. Makes you wonder why Rotherham kept faith with Warne on each occasion, doesn't it?

Thanks for the analysis on this.
I think most of us would say we started slowly and are now accelerating. If we can maintain the kind of form in more recent months, then we should be looking to improve on our average PPG so far. However, whilst many have said it's a weaker league, the gritty relentlessness of L1 will always throw up disappointing results and dips in form. We have to bounce back from disappointment better than last season.
I stand by my pre-season prediction of a play off spot, which I think would be a decent season. I really don't buy into the 'anything less than promotion is a failure' narrative. Anything beyond playoffs is within our capability but I would see as a happy bonus.

To be honest I'm more interested in his record at the level we're currently at which if I'm not mistaken shows his teams averaging 1.8 points per game. If and when we get back into the Championship and if Warne is still our manager, I will reserve judgement until then, rather than go into a new season with a pessimistic level of expectation.

I stand by what I said. Nitpicking semantics over his interviews and now developing victim complexes about the ''abuse' is pathetic.
It's also unfair and bordering on bullying.

I guess this is the type of antagonistic post being talked about on some parts of this thread. “Think” something about other posters and then call it “pathetic”. Oh dear.

Couldn't agree more YR.
I actually think many of them are disappointed the results have picked up as now they have no reason to want the man out. It's pathetic; but also quite funny.

Of course he hasn't.
As I said earlier, it's likely - in the statistical sense, and understandably given human nature, so not really even a dig - that there are some posters who think criticising Warne is the same thing as abusing posters who publicly back him, taking it upon themselves to feel insulted on his behalf.

Anyone that doesn't quite get PW; listen to the podcast series 'Moment Of Truth' that covers the season he was managing Rotherham.
I think it's refreshing to have a manager that speaks so openly about his emotions and his players.
It is simply ridiculous to suggest that he was speaking about Sibley in a negative way. Only PW truly knows his players and understands the banter they can take.
Even many on here have had a go about him about his choice of head-wear. Anything for a cheap shot.

I'd like to see further action for that. It's assault. Any player should receive a 6-month ban. Outside of a football pitch, you're looking at a criminal record.

After saying our style of play isn't producing results, it's difficult to complain about style of play when we're winning.
Criticism of post match comments is the logical next step until we lose again and style of play becomes an issue.

Warne responded to the Ramstv interviewer’s statement of “Louie Sibley opened the scoring, cracking strike” by saying;
“yeah I’m glad he scored because if he didn’t score he’d have been in deep cause he could have put Birdy in. Really pleased with Sibs, you know he had different roles if it was a 3 at the back or a 4 at the back what position he was, he was a 10 or an 8, same with the wide players they had different roles today because sometimes they attacked with a 3 the midfielder slots inside the pitch so there was a lot of information. I thought the lads dealt with that pretty well and I thought Sibs was a handful, so I was pleased for Sibs and erm yeah he was one of many of the good performers”.
Seems fairly specific praise about Sibley doing well and coping with the changing formation to me, not sure what needs to be guessed at?

That is a typical @RoyMac5 comment. Ignoring the positive things PW was saying about Sibley and cherry picking (and then misinterpreting IMO) one comment part of which was clearly a tad tongue in cheek. I’ve just listened to the interview and he said “I’m glad he scored otherwise he would have been in deep….. as he could have put Birdy in”.
Note he said could not should and. Had he not scored, I’m sure we would all have been screaming “why didn’t he pass to Bird?” We didn’t scream it because Sibley did score but we all know PW likes to try and add a bit of humour to his interviews. We’ll never know but I reckon Sibley will realise that as well and will not be thinking “FFS, I score and he’s still not happy”.

As someone who took on a fair amount of criticism for arguing we weren't playing that badly a few weeks ago...I thought we were pretty poor first half tbh.
We constantly gave the ball away and were probably the scrappier of the two teams.
One moment of magic out of nowhere gave us the lead. Orient missed a couple of good chances and so did Collins.
So imo we were fairly fortunate to be in the lead. A stupid red card really put them in the cart and a sweeping move a minute into the 2nd half suddenly gave us a comfortable situation.
I didn't think we shut them out as well as we could and they alnost got back into it. They eventually tired and over committed and we then could have scored 4 or 5.
So a strange game really. We could have won even more easily but at times we played quite averagely and all the big moments went our way.
Just as a few weeks ago I was saying we weren't that bad, I'm saying yesterday we weren't that amazing. Little moments are going our way more and we are moving into a great position with more in the tank.
We can play much better than yesterday - and probably will do and not win, that's football.

Quite average actually, certainly not easy on the eye, which I'm beginning to think is the way to play if we want to get out of this league.
3-0 somewhat flatters us which seems to be par for the course recently, but can't complain. 3 more points towards the end goal and yet another confidence building result.
