Moodhoover junior is off to Pompey uni in September so I'm sure I'll get to know the City a bit better.

QI says that Portsea Island, which is the site of Portsmouth City is the most highly populated island off the coast of the GB mainland....

It use to be, not so sure now.

Like all city's pompey has its good and bad places.

You'll love Southsea beach in the summer, historic dockyard etc.

Visit old Portsmouth while you're down, it hasn't changed much in 500 years. Lots of pubs with harbour views and cobbled narrow walkways where Henry the 8th would have walked

genuine question - would you trade the FA Cup win for financial stability instead and those seasons in the Championship/PL? Or was it worth the scrapping around in the lower leagues?

Great question, and in all honesty I don't think I would.

I'm in my early 60's and like most fans I grew up dreaming of seeing my team lift the FA Cup at Wembley.

May 17th 2008 will be forever etched in my memory, and to see the joy on my sons face was priceless.

Now had we gone bust and ceased to exist, then I wouldn't have wanted the cup win to happen

  3. League one, what a s*** show of a league it is. It's a tough league to get out of. This is our 7th season in league one, and we spent the prior 4 seasons in league 2.

Like yourselves we have been proper turned over by owners in the past.

So it's 11yrs for us in the bottom two leagues.

Not counting my chicken's, because 3 of the past 5 seasons we've been top of this league and blown it.

You'll be hard pressed to find a pompey fan that thinks promotion is guaranteed this season. We're only two defeats away from blowing it.

  4. For those of you who have been to fratton park before, you'll find a complete transformation of the away end now.

It's been transformed and now has safe standing, plus you can now buy alcohol, which up until a few months ago was prohibited.

Fair play lads, you've sold your allocation, so look forward to 2,000+ rams adding to a great atmosphere.

The match is a complete sell out, so crowd should be aproching 21,000

  5. Yes the Rutland still, exists. One of the few remaining pubs left around fratton park. Most have been turned into flats.

For those of you who fancy a few pre match beers the away pub is called the good companion. It's only a five minute walk from the away end, and they serve food and also have a car park.

To be honest you'd be welcome in any pub around the stadium.

  6. Evening lads. Looking forward to our match next Tuesday.

Think we'd both be happy with a draw?

    You'll be welcome.

They'll be a match thread going up after tomorrow's games are done and dusted.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Good luck for your remaining games.

  7. Evening lads, pompey fan here.

Think you'll win this, we're in terrible form.

Injuries have blighted our good start, and at one stage we were playing out 4th, 5th and 6th choice players in midfield. Morecambe should have wolloped us Saturday, and we're winless for about seven matches now.

Although we are unbeaten at home for about 15 matches, many of those have been draws though.

If you're driving down I'd advise get to the area early as parking is terrible around the ground. It's off street parking, and spaces are rare on a match day. You might find it easier to park around the Southsea area and walk to the ground.

The designated away fan pub is The Good Companion, about 500yrds from the away end. Although you'd be welcome in any pub around the ground. The days are long gone regards local pubs not allowing away fans in.

We've started work on expanding the away end, so you'll probably find the away end a bit sparce at one side, due to seats and old terracing having been ripped up ready for renewal.

There's no alcohol on sale inside the away end (some rule about fans aren't allowed to drink in sight of the pitch), hence why the away end is being redeveloped with new hidden concourses.

It's a sell out for home fans, think our home capacity is around 16,000, so add on what you lot bring down and probably looking at a 17,000+ crowd.

    Good luck lads.

    Prediction pompey 1 Derby 2
