my slight concern is Warne saying that the lads weren't great in training yesterday - hopefully they up their levels today ready for the match tomorrow evening

TBF I don’t mind that. Imagine if he’d spent ages waxing how great we looked. Players might think they’d got 3 points in the bag already!

  2. Great shot-stopper and generally looks comfortable coming for crosses. Is that enough though? We’ve seen questionable composure and decision-making a few times this season. And in a team where PW wants fast, athletic football I wonder if Joe’s often pedestrian and wayward distribution matches that intent? I accept there’s times to run the clock down, but there have also been multiple occasions where an opportunity to get us on the attack quickly have been spurned.

I don’t think we’ve seen enough of Josh to state with confidence that he’s superior to Joe, and he does seem to favour coming to punch rather than catch crosses. It would make sense that PW signed him though, if reports of Joe refusing to sign a contract in summer are to be believed? On his limited appearances I have noticed Josh is perhaps more willing to risk a quick kick up top, perhaps where Wash’s ability to run in behind is expected to bear fruit?

All i can think of was that the ref was allowing due to the weather conditions but thats still very lenient. JW has some real issues with controlling his 18 yard box. Always seems to be down the left side too.

It’s like opposition managers have seen something and target that area of the pitch!

Just got in from work and caught the highlights. Very good point, would have taken before kickoff. Could be the vital point come the end of 46 games.

Unfortunately Wildsmith is and has been for a while now a liability coming for balls he shouldn't be etc, cracking hit from Moxon but I think Wildsmith should have done better.

I’d say the ball moved quite a bit in the air and was travelling. Probably did well to lay a paw on it. I do agree though about his decision-making. Notwithstanding the conditions that’s 3 times now this year he’s raced out to the left edge of the box and conceded a pen or free-kick. The minor slip he took when his hands were already out of the area holding the ball probably saved him a booking. You could argue the weather conditions contributed to his flailing at the cross in the first half but I was always told if you’re coming for the ball you better get it! From the limited evidence I’ve seen of Vickers his all-round game appears more solid, and I’d be very surprised if he isn’t PWs No.1 next season.

  5. I did say on Friday that if we won tonight we’d win the league but fair play Mousinho has done an exceptional job, in addition to being well backed. Another great, young British coach. Pompey might struggle to keep him too long next season once the managerial merry-go-round starts up.  Expecting us to be a point ahead of Bolton after Saturday, so backing up tonight with a win at Wankcombe is vital.
