A couple of star strikers coming in , could push the numbers up a bit . But most of us Rams fans will watch 11 shirts drying on the line .

    Indeed.

TBH, my head is in the cricket at the moment, and I guess so will a lot of people.  I suspect there will be a flurry a week or so from the first game when people need to come to a head as to whether they can commit to going enough.  At the moment, football is out of site.

Where we are today is a very very good final figure, let alone with two months of sales to go.

19,000 on 29/07/22 and that was following the first two games of the season.

There will be a large number of people who don't want to sit next to the same person or group as they did last year as they were annoying, big, smelly etc.  Many will leave that until full seat availability is know (to get best seats for best price), so we really are doing well being only 2k down off the in season total.

How many season tickets have we sold?

The total number of season tickets has exceeded 20,000. Additionally, there’s an increase of 51% on half-season ticket sales compared to the same period last year.

I think we hit 20,000 full season tickets plus extras, see above.

We have two months to achieve the same as last year.

Didn’t we have over 20k last season?

So we are down? And there was actually quite a lot of new ones this season (surprisingly but nice news). Means quite a few have not renewed.

20k when all was said and done.  We had sold zero this time last year.

They are on sale for another two months.

Not so simple to do, but does anyone know how the season ticket sales actually compare to last year?

It seemed last year the sales were faster, but that may be due to other factors.

They were faster, but deadlines shorter as season started in July - and we were bought 366 days ago.  Zero sold so far at same stage.

At this stage we are over 17,000 higher, or infinite percentage, as they did not go on sale immediately.

Apples and oranges, due to the unique season last year was.  c19,000 at start of season.

I’m amazed that people are predicting great things from Collins. He isn’t a natural striker and so doesn’t take up good positions in the box.
He takes up deep positions because he lacks the hunger or natural finishing skill to be a goal poacher.

If he could get himself in the mix more, like his goal against Portsmouth, he might have a chance, but too often he gets caught the wrong side of defenders and the ball gets cleared before it can reach him.

Agreed.  There isn't an out and out goal scorer in the Team.

I suspect there is the issue everyone knows we need a goalscorer but we do not yet have one.  So the most forward minded player has to become that hitman.

Once a new striker is signed - which all hints suggest is on the way (whom, I do not care to guess) - attention will migrate to that individual.

20,000 I think, though at this point last year we'd sold exactly 0.

It's against the rules but every club does it. There's no point bidding for a player unless you know they are already willing to join.

That is where agents come in.  I doubt it is against any rules to speak to an agent about the possibility.  The point is a direct approach to the player and anything concrete.

It is possible that Warne has met Washington and that Rotherham have had no contact from anyone.

I believe that is against the rules.  The previous regime at this club would have gone along with that; I don't see Warne or Clowes doing it.

That isn't to say there is not going to be any.  It depends on the rules we are under - perhaps we needed Beilek off the books, or to have booked his fee, to sanction the ability to make the move.

  9. 11 minutes ago, Alty_Ram said:

And it's a gamble for them for sure. He's one heavy tackle away from a long layoff and on his wages we just needed him gone. Having a fully fit and firing Bielik in this side would be a huge deal, but with current ownership we are choosing to cut our cloth according to our situation and the Bieliks of this world just don't fit into that plan. It's just too much resource tied up in one player who would just leave for nothing next summer anyway. This was always going to happen and it was just a case of when and where. So, good... one loose end tied up.

As for the message itself, well I'm not sure what some fans expect him to say. If he says nothing then he looks like an ungrateful arse and if he is too gushing and badge kissy then he just looks insincere. I think he's ticked the 'respectful enough' box and there we go, job done. No problem, both parties move on.

Which is why they will have paid peanuts.  To be honest, I'd have taken a pound to get rid of the financial risk and to allow us to 'move on'.  Every penny is a win.

If we are so “Massive”, how come we get 3,000 fans at some games? Only 23,000 Rams fans for the game v West Ham Utd last season. Fans have got to get out of those comfy armchairs.

I sit in the west stand; half way up right on the half way line.  I hate moving, too,

A lot of us make a big effort to attend matches.  It's a 120 mile round trip for me; the guy who sits next to me is from Cambridge.  The league is what matters, so most will prioritise that.  Cup games are an added extra.

Not really. Stewarding and staffing costs for those stands far outweigh those like yourself that wouldn't go.

Basically this.  Would we get more money in by opening it than would be made by leaving it closed.  For a testimonial, the equation is even more important as the money doesn't go to the club - so either the testimonial trust pay it, or the club (for no income).

The ground would look very sparse if every seat was available, but only 15% sold - TV cameras are in west stand, so makes sense to leave that empty to give the "impression" it is busier than it really is.

    Yeah might have!
To be fair all the talk of him leaving there’s only really been Bristol linked.
Maybe he likes it at Derby so unless one of the top championship clubs come in maybe he will actually stay.
Warne loves him and despise what comments have come out from the Ireland gaffer he keeps picking him to start so no worry’s on being left out if he stays.

He has a price to stay (i.e. low bids) and a price to leave (high ones).  If the bids are low, he probably stays; if high, see you later.

I have a theory, and it is only a theory, that we are allowed to make transfers for any monies brought in for transfers - nil sum game.

Anyone joining the club should expect to make an improvement on a 7th place finish from last season. Their views will be aligned with the fans/voters, as shown by 97% expecting playoffs at the very minimum. They should all be determined enough to expect promotion too. If they don't think they're good enough to win promotion from this division then they shouldn't be joining us.

Exactly.  First place automatic or sixth and the play offs - I really couldn't give a damn.  But, I do think we should go for it this year.

To be honest, any footballer that doesn't think they are good enough to win promotion is probably a league ahead of where they belong (or in need of significant confidence training).

Just finished watching the 3-2 victory Derby had against Manchester United in 1997 and here are my match notes!

Manchester United vs Derby County 1997

    - Paulo Wanchope first start for Derby, makes me curious as to how many Central Americans have played for the club

    - United has opportunity to go 6 points clear in first and Derby needs 4 points to be safe from relegation

    - Derby employing tight man to man marking system to start, focused on stopping Cantona

    - LOTS of long ball attempts and very high intensity from the start, feels different to the game today but it only lasts a few minutes

    - Trollope giving Cantona fits early on really cool to see him take it to him

    - Giggs misses a sitter, heading it straight to the keeper

    - Trollope with an outstanding pass to Ward and he whiffs it wide from 6 yards out

    - Trollope plays a ball to Wanchope who heads it back to Ward who hits it awkwardly but it find its way to the back of the net over an outstretched Schmeichel!

    - Football is a funny sport, Ward blows the easy chance earlier scores a goal that didn’t have much business turning into a goal haha

    - On a separate note the Derby kit from this season is absolutely magnificent

    - Wanchope with an INSANE wondergoal, amazing run through the midfield and defense and an even better finish slotted into the right corner what an insane debut wow

    - How has Ward not made it 3-0, 3 chances from point blank range, two saves by Schmeichel and then he hits the post on the third attempt sheesh

    - Derby taking it to prime Man United at Old Trafford is amazing to watch

    - Cantona couldn’t be held back forever, outstanding first touch at the top of the box, gets passed Trollope and blasts it into the bottom corner

    - Didn’t realize Daniel Sturridge’s uncle played for Derby

    - Giggs with a harsh challenge on Wanchope which draws a yellow, could see it possibly being a red today

    - After getting a goal back United has picked up the intensity immensely as Derby struggles to keep up

    - Trollope has been all over the pitch, making good passes and defending really well, such a great performance from him

    - When did the game time and score first show up on broadcasts? I don’t like not being able to look up and see that haha

    - Schmeichel is wearing his shorts up to his chest lol

    - After a rampant attack from United for the first 20 mins of the second half Derby has settled in and weathered it well

    - Crucial mistake by Schmeichel, Sturridge heads it over him as he comes out prematurely and taps it in to make it 3-1!

    - So much drama throughout the game this has been an outstanding watch so far

    - And just like that a mistake by McGrath heading it backward to Ole gets United a goal back a couple minutes after it was made 3-1, exciting last 15 to follow

    - If I was alive during this time and watching this game my stomach would be in absolute knots for this last 10 minutes it’s been intense LOL

    - Two great chances from United towards the end of the match which came so so close to tying it up, heart skipped a beat even though I know how this ends hahah

    - Looks like “Fergie Time” was in full display this game too even the announcer mentioned “where’d this time come from” LOL

    - That’s all though, what an outstanding game and truly a classic Derby victory I rate it a 8.5/10

I watched the match at a friend's house on TV (I was about 13 at the time).  There was five Man Utd fans and me.  Was jumping around the room; never has supporting this club been that satisfying again 🙂

Commission ain't what it used to be...... it's the regulators what suck all the cash out these days....

You cannot obtain commission these days.  You have to charge a set fee.  Clients preferred the old days when they didn't know what they paid as it was all bundled in

My fee for an annuity purchase is 3% of initial pot.  Few purchase them these days, except when they have guarantees.

That wasn't initially what I had in mind, but that does seem like a cool idea that can also be added on for anyone else who would be interested in that because I would be. My main idea was to watch matches and post game notes about it and discuss them with anyone interested on this thread if that makes sense.

    It is an interesting idea.

Funnily enough, Sky Sports are also showing the Man Utd v Derby match in full on 30/06/23 at 15.30 pm (UK Time).

I presume he's aware of that. So why go there?

Putin will not have wanted to nuke an area 100miles from Moscow.  But that was the only way to stop him (what else could he offer a man prepared to mutineer against him?

After agreeing terms, he needed some "way out".  That was it - nowhere that might offer relative safety would allow him in.

More likely monies done the talking again.

Doubt it.  He would make far more money should he make it to the Kremlin.  Putin is believed to world's richest man.  The general was scared - he himself is now a dead man walking (his men might be spared).

No value in money when you are dead.  He cannot travel as he is wanted by the International Criminal Court, so can only go to Belarus, where Putin can very easily have him killed.
