HertsRam
Nigel Clough could follow in his fathers footsteps and become Nottingham Forest boss if Steve McClaren fails to turn things around Sep 25 2011 by Alan Nixon, The People http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/people3/sep2011/0/6/nigel-clough-pic-getty-images-475060630 Nigel Clough (Pic: Getty Images) NIGEL CLOUGH is a shock SOS option for Nottingham Forest – which could see him follow in the footsteps of late father Brian. Derby County chief Clough is in line for a sensational call if Steve McClaren fails to turn around the fortunes of the troubled Midlands outfit soon. Clough junior has impressed with the Rams, where he works on a tight budget and has guided them to third place in the Championship with the help of a 3-0 win over Millwall yesterday. And he has his supporters at the City Ground where he was a star midfielder, as well as being the son of their European Cup-winning boss. Forest are looking round for potential replacements if former England chief McClaren fails to improve their results – or even quits because of an ongoing dispute over budget and signings. Preston’s Phil Brown has also been mentioned as a viable candidate, but Clough would bring in the kind of fan backing that few others could match – despite managing their deadly rivals. uttoxram75
Love that bit about "he would bring in the kind of fan backing few others could match" 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> lazy journalism indeed, no mention of the chants of "Nigel is a vvanker" and nearly 3 years of "Agent Clough" and "Non League Nigel" abuse from the deluded gumps! Having said that, I reckon Doughty would take him in a heartbeat. The only place Nigel is going is the Premiership - with Derby County 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Leicester Ram
cant see him leaving us, where he's finally got his own team playing the way he wants it to play and is getting results.
GboroRam
Not saying he wouldn't consider moving (it can't be the easiest of jobs), but to be honest he'd only move if it was a move upwards. And this wouldn't be a move up in any sense.
rsmini
What total garbage. The journalist needs to get his story right. In my humble opinion Nigel will never manage any other club than Burton and Derby. He loves Derby and so did his father. I am convinced he will be our manager for at least 10 years. As long as the Yanks own our club he will be the manager. He has Derby in his blood like the rest of us.

ram2767
Even though its is obviously complete crap, its an interesting thing to discuss...shame there isn't much to discuss because its plainly simple where Nigels going to be for the next 10 years 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Alph
Your right though. There is a few of things worth discussing in that article. First, the picture. Is Nigel saying "Oi!, i said play with 1 less than Forest!" Second, he has supporters at the City Ground.... as has been said..... who? Where? Thirdly, Is Stephen Pearson a Forest fan? Have a look over Nigel's right shoulder. Finally, we're Forest's "deadly rivals"... Well, not really a lot to discuss about this last one. But i liked it. Van der MoodHoover
Complete garbage........."COULD..." etc etc. Just made up gumph with enough of a disclaimer to prevent legal action. And as has been pointed out, it has taken us nearly 3 years to get here, in which time NFFC have gone through their own mini boom and bust. They wouldn't have the patience. tomsdubs
He's just spent 2 years stripping one club clean of deadwood and reduction the budgets, why the **** would he want to waste probably about 3 years there trying to do the same but with more debt? This journo needs sacking.
