This charity argument laid down by the Forest fans - saying that it would be better to have donated the money to charity - could be applied to anything in life. You just spent £1000 on a home cinema system? Better to have given the money to charity? That season ticket for Derby? The £400 you spent could have saved 400 children somewhere in the world. Where does it stop?

What a group of fans decide to do with a certain amount of money is up to them in the same way as individuals choose what to spend their own money on. No-one tells Forest fans what to spend their money on so they shouldn't be telling anyone else either.

Most people donate to charity and there is only so much you can donate.

A similar argument is always used when millions are spent on space travel - with the difference here being that advances in space travel actually help everyone and in the long term could help the starving nations. Yes, acknowledged; the "We only had 10 men" banner isn't going to solve world hunger or enable humans to travel across the cosmos.

Forest fans were quick to jump on the A5-2 bandwagon and they'll get the chance to do something similar in future when they next win. Who knows? they could come to Pride Park at a very bad time, get two players sent off, win and then be quick at jumping up "We done it with 9 men". Following season, Derby gets 3 players sent off and then "We only had 8 men" and then when Forest try to win with 7 men the game will be abandoned by the referee.

When dishing out against the rivals, you have to be prepared to receive it for one day it will happen. When they were laughing out A5-2 they probably wouldn't have thought that less than a year later, they'd be on the receiving end of "We only had 10 men"

Likewise, if that aeroplane takes to the sky tomorrow (weather permitting) - enjoy the occasion but bear in mind that one day, they will get the bragging rights again.

Nottingham Forest does have fans with big hearts but so does Derby and every other club - even Leeds and Millwall. Whether someone has a big heart depends on the individual - not the club they support. Because we tend to tarnish groups with the same brush, the actions of a few fans of a football club can shape what we think of all fans of that football club.

A couple of seasons ago, Walsall were playing MK Dons and a thug threw a brick at the MK Dons coach, smashing a window and nearly hurting an 8 year old girl. The kind hearted Walsall fans were horrified thinking that the action of this one individual could tarnish the whole club so several Walsall fans contributed money to a kitty which was used to pay for tickets + travel costs for the girl and her family to return to Walsall. Walsall FC were touched by this kind gesture from their own fans and gave the MK Dons girl and her family a VIP experience including leading the teams onto the pitch. The girl and her family enjoyed their day out and developed a new perspective of Walsall FC to the point where they adopted Walsall as their second team.

I'm not that bothered about the banner, however the money spent on it provided work for the people that made the banner, the company providing fuelling and piloting the plane, plus all the ancillary services that benefitted from the order, material manufacturer, ink/paint, fuel companies, engineers etc etc

Whilst raising money for charity is a noble and important cause, spending money on services in a time where money is tight is just as important. Now that 1000 quid may not keep the economy from going into recession again, but very little helps.

There's a couple of articles about this in the DT today - it's got the ok from the CAA but police are frowning on it because it could invite hostilities from them down the road. The other editorial article on a different page also deems it a bad idea and goes on to say "how would Derby fans like it?"

My answer is we wouldn't start doing cartwheels about it, no, but it would be looked upon in the way it should be, it's just a few bragging rights, that's all. No doubt, as has been said, they may beat us again and the boots on the other foot. Banter doesn't mean that there has top be a mass punch up, fer gods sake.

Some people have no sense of humour and are sometimes willing to cause a problem before one has been created.

To be brutally honest, i think it is a bit tacky. It would have been hillarious if we had done it the week after when theu were away at Watford on TV, but too much time has passed by now, they have a new manager and doing ok now. Having said that, i still cant wait to see the photos/videos of it. I hope someone is at the pig sty recording it for us.
