Sheehan or Lescinel played left back in the game against Tranmere that Clough was meant to be watching. They then went and signed a new left back on saturday. Hmmm. We obviously were not watching Austin.

Maybe it was one of these left backs. Both have played 8 games.

Sheehan is described as an attacking left back, and is 24 and

the other bloke, Lescinel is Haitian and taller and can also play as a sweeper. Neither have been regulars. Sheehan has a contract to the summer, so maybe Clough Just looking tt the future.

Liverpool's Daniel Ayala will not be joining Derby County on transfer deadline day, but the Rams hope to bring him to Pride Park on an emergency loan when the window re-opens.

A deal had been agreed with Liverpool to bring Ayala to Derby on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old central defender visited Moor Farm this morning with a view to completing relevant paperwork to beat the 11pm deadline.

However, Ayala is still recovering from a hamstring injury and the decision has been taken by Derby County, Liverpool FC and the player that it is in his best interests to continue his rehabilitation at Melwood.

Derby County manager Nigel Clough told dcfc.co.uk: "We still want Daniel to join us and we are pretty confident that will happen, albeit later in February.

"We have had him checked over and the advice we are getting is that he won't be ready to play for a number of weeks yet.

"It makes sense for everyone involved that Daniel continues his rehabilitation with Liverpool at Melwood.

"Liverpool have been tremendous to deal with throughout this process and I would like to thank Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli for their help and willingness to allow Daniel to come to Derby County.

"The player himself is a great character and the time we have spent with him today showed us he is the right type of person and player we want to bring to Derby County."

Ayala, who had a 12 game loan stint at npower Championship rivals Hull City earlier in the season, made five first-team appearances for Liverpool last season.

clucking bell.

These Yanks are slowly testing my resolve. If we get no one in tomorrow and we start losing and playing badly can see the board getting some stick.

This mess is down to the YANKS and their budget and cost cutting. They said they wanted to be like Lendar at Villa, spent 18mill on Bent, Ashley Young, The winger from boro etc.

What do we get nowt.

No point in him sitting around Moor Farm on his arse getting his legs rubbed at our expense, get him here when he's fit and ready to play.

Given our track record I'd have thought we'd have signed him anyway, he could have kept Anderson and Buxton company.
