Welcome.

DANIEL Ayala could complete his loan move to Derby County today.

The young Spanish defender is set to join the Rams from Liverpool for the remainder of the season.

His move was originally put on hold while he recovered from a hamstring injury but he played for Liverpool Reserves this week as he steps up his return to fitness.

The 20-year-old, who had a loan spell with Hull City earlier this season, was due to train with Derby today.

And depending on his fitness, he could feature in Nigel Clough's 18-man squad for tomorrow's Championship clash against Leicester City at Pride Park Stadium (5.20pm).

Ayala will give Clough another option at centre-back.

Shaun Barker and Miles Addison are the current pairing in central defence, while Dean Leacock is back in contention after serving a two-match ban.

At last, a bit of good news!

nothing on SSN at the moment

I think the DET may be ahead of the game on SSN with this sort of story. Local reporters, and lets face it we arent a big draw for the media now. Last day of the window we were because of Commons going and needing to buy players. Now we are just another Championship club looking for loans.

Signed for rest of season

He's signed

Derby County have today swooped to strengthen their defence with the signing of Liverpool defender Daniel Sánchez Ayala.

The 20-year-old central defender has signed for the Rams on a loan deal which will run until the end of the season.

Derby's central defensive options have been limited this season and manager Nigel Clough has moved to bolster his backline ahead of tomorrow's npower Championship home game with Leicester City.

Clough said: "We're pleased to bring Daniel on board for the rest of the season, especially as he has been in demand and had a number of other clubs interested in taking him.

"I would like to express our thanks to Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool that they have decided Derby County is the best place for Daniel at this stage of his development.

"He is a talented defender who we've seen in action on numerous occasions and feel he has the qualities to help improve our defensive record, which we feel has not been good enough lately.

"This deal has been in the pipeline for a few weeks and we've had to remain patient, but the hard work has now paid off and we're pleased to have Daniel with us."

Ayala is no stranger to the npower Championship as he spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Hull City.

He made 12 appearances for the Tigers before returning to Anfield at the end of December with a hamstring injury, which he has recently recovered from.

During his stay at the KC Stadium he scored his professional goal in only his second appearance, ironically against Derby in September.

The Spaniard joined Liverpool in 2007 from Sevilla, but he had to wait until last season to make his first-team debut for the Reds with two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Can revert to 4-2-3-1 by dropping Davies/Cywka back into an attacking 3 and have Addison and Bailey/Pearson sat in holding. Can change to 4-1-3-2 by dropping Addison back to holding position

Again can alter formation easily to 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1

Definitely gives us more options than before. I have committed heracy in many peoples ees by putting Pearson in the middle of midfield. This is based on his decent performance against Ipswich, and the fact that he always seems to be involved when he is fit and he looked better there than wide.

The Bueaty of both those teams is that whatever formation you start with you can change without making subs - class hey.
