24Charlie
So he’s now being elevated to sainthood. A couple of weeks ago he was a useless fat waster but he was still supporting charities. No one thought of posting “the other side of Rooney” then. Rooney has always been a guy who just got on with it. He’s never been a show pony like Beckham or fond of the limelight like Lampard but he was just as gifted a footballer. He’s done a few things he’d like to forget but who gets to 35 without effing up? There’s no need to bloke smoke up his backside.

RadioactiveWaste
It's not a bad thing. In fact it's exactly the sort of thing to be applauded. Whether it's Sean Barker's foundation, or Savage's dementia charity or any number of footballers who give something in terms of money or publicity, the charities need it. The people who depend on those charities need it. It is easy to be cynical in this world, but I don't think this is an example of that. Does't make him a saint, and it's more or less half a week's wages. It is however, a good thing and there's no reason to pan him for it. I'd rather he did it than didn't do it.
