Think everyone can forget being moved down a tier before Xmas now, the Government have just played the next ace up their sleeve...

Neither should they be.

The NHS are going to be in big trouble in January and February as it is.

Not a shock, all things considered. See @B4ev6is, it's not a conspiracy in favour of London.

Bit weird though that Watford and surrounding area of Herts is Tier 3 but not other areas of the county.

Whereas other places like Kent have had blanket rules applied across a whole country, even in one which is more varied in terms of where is rural vs town.

Chequers in the Tier 2 area. Can't have Boris cooked-up in no.10 all Christmas.

Don't want him to be cooked but he certainly needs his feet holding to the fire.

There again it is the right time of the year to cook a turkey.

It will be ducking Summer before we have any normality and that's if we are lucky let's face it. I've had enough of this ducking virus tbh. I sympathise with the worst effected but for most it's nothing, nothing except being told what to do and the removal of rights for a prolonged period of time.  Also the negative externalities of the measures they are using will cause severe impacts for years, hard decisions have to be made but this isn't right to me. If it wasn't for the Vaccine they'd be trying to save the NHS for the next 3 years while people become skint and loose out on basic rights and their lives in general.

Are there any figures out there to prove this or is this just your gut feeling?

Would be good to know what hospital occupancy is like right now compared to usual years.

One MP today said there was one Covid patient in their hospital.

Also think it was IDS saying the NHS are under no more pressure than normal (would have to check this though as got distracted when he was speaking).

Gut feeling based upon the fact that I've not been wrong yet.

Bloody science, eh?

Three hospitals in Wales are operating at or near their maximum capacity while at the same time suffering staff shortages.

The three hospitals are all at what is known as “CritCon status 3B” - Critcon 3 means they are at full stretch with critical care expanding into the other areas of the hospital and routine procedures being suspended. The B highlights that staffing levels are down.

If a hospital reaches Critcon 4, resources are being overwhelmed, which opens up the prospect of staff having to choose which critically ill patients to treat.

A Welsh government spokesperson said: “We currently have three hospitals at CritCon status 3B. However, this is reviewed regularly and can change on a daily basis.”

The CritCon system is designed to represent the level of “stress” in the system, and any deviation required from usual practice.

What do they normally operate at this time of year?

Not sure what you mean by freedom. We've hardly been under house arrest or a curfew when we've been in Tier 3.

Your pubs be allowed stay

London clubs can fans back in

Your cinemas could remain open

Theathers been allowed to open

That's sounds more freedoms that were been allowed to have.

That's not freedom though. You can watch Netflix, drink quality beer at home that's far superior than the disco fizz being served up at Spoons. And only some supporters are being let back into grounds.

My point is that there are other things that people can be doing - walking, running, the great outdoors, going shopping and so on. It's what you make of the current situation unfortunately.  But we still have a lot of choices of things that we can do.
