Anyway in my opinion the Krispy Kreme standard glazed jam donut is unbeatable no matter what unusual creations they keep tempting me with. None of them are good for you though. "Doughnut" is the official spelling, but "Donut" (originally an americanisation) has been around since the 19th Century - so really it doesn't matter. Your jam/custard stuff doughnuts are still pretty much the same as the original ones the name came from, fairly obviously - literally a 'nut of fried dough'. The very earliest ones had no filling. I personally prefer 'Donut' because a) its simpler and b) I only eat ring donuts, which don't align with the original meaning. So I use it as a sort of an internal, mental separation.
