No he didn't as every manager we have had since McClaren hasn't go us promoted.

We couldn't retain the likes of Bamford and Wisdom and Lingard and Keane though .

I wonder why !

Thorne was a McClaren success though to be fair but unlucky with injuries.

Lingard and Keane were pretty average with us anyway plus it would have been very difficult holding onto Lingard considering he was breaking into United's team. Only a fool would blame McClaren for that.

But the point is McClaren had their services to try and get us promoted.

We kept Thorne we could of treated Bamford better.

What do you mean he had the services to get us promoted? Yes we had a good squad, but we started the season with a different manager and Mac came in with no pre-season with the club and got us to our highest position for 7 years. You are being very harsh if you are criticising him for not getting us promoted in that season.

He could have retained Bamford if he had treated him right for the following season. Wisdom could have been tempted to stay also.  Lingard was the following season wasn't he.

Wisdom went to a premier league club and Bamford went to a club where he was more likely to start as a cf. Keane didn't want to fight for a place with Keogh and Buxton and wasn't really that good for us. Lingard? You mean the same player that has just signed a new deal at his parent club, at £100,000 a week?

Wrong decisions can lead to ultimate failure.

Question for you

Did McClaren use the Academy players  much in the first 11.

Was he big on bringing players through or did he prefer loans like Lingard etc

Did he play Vydra on the wing for a reason !

Surely every decision that was made at the time was the right decision?

Wisdom went to a premier league club and Bamford wanted to play as a centre forward something he wasn't to get at Derby with Chris Martin.

Maybe if Bamford had put more effort into the games whilst he was here we may have wanted to keep him. Never seen a player so lazy in the things he does. 5-10 yard passes juat no effort or concentration put into it.

People make out McClaren had no tools to work with but he did.

I don't.   I do know that Bamford became fed up with not starting under McClaren so wasn't likely to stay.

Or Hanford wasn't that good enough to take CM role off him? Bamford was so lazy on loan here.
