why hasn't human-kind been back then since?

It was a scam to account for money siphoned off.

I get this is tongue in cheek, but it was actually really funny to watch all the Moon Landing conspiracy nutters vanish in the last decade after the Japanese and Indian space agencies independently released images of the sites. They had somehow kept some people believing in their nonsense with us using equipment we left on the moon regularly for ranging, and even with the Soviets agreeing that the Americans did indeed go.

They've finally been relegated to the level of Flat Earthers, though they were never far above them. The idea that you could organise and keep a conspiracy of that scale quiet enough to have no solid evidence is honestly one of the silliest conspiracy theories.

Found it hilarious how most people believe 9/11 was real.

Again, I get it's tongue in cheek, but the whole situation around the 9/11 conspiracies is actually really interesting psychologically. Disbelief that such a thing could happen manifested itself into some of the most varied and bizarre conspiracy theories the world has known in a long time. Much like a lot of conspiracy theories though, it demonstrates how a tiny bit of knowledge mixed with an air of confidence can play off people's understandings well enough to convince people of things that are outright silly.

The only strange thing about 9/11 was the fact that 15 of the 19 or so hijackers were Saudi Arabian yet the coalition invaded Iraq in response?

It was an Easy Jet invasion. It was close enough. In the general vicinity......

the ONLY strange thing? really? Did you not wonder how passports didn't melt, yet structural steel did?

A lot of unburnt personal effects is scattered about after airline accidents. Have you ever broken a glass by dropping it from a height, and found shards a long way away from where it hit the ground? It's a similar idea. What personal effects they found were not in the rubble, they were on the street a few blocks away if I recall right.

Also, the structural steel didn't melt while the building was standing, steel just loses the majority of it's tensile strength at high temperatures. It's like the rest of the points about 9/11 conspiracies, they fall apart with even a basic scientific knowledge.

Iraq was entirely separate, it was the Afghanistan war first, and the logic was to dismantle the organisation responsible. Think about it this way, Newcastle United is an English club, but that doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of people from other countries playing for them.

Conspiracy theories are entertaining, but you have to wonder about the mental state of those who get obsessed by them.

Bottom line is that whether 9/11 was an inside job or the moon landings were fake etc etc – none of it matters.

“LOOK AT THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO ABOUT HOW THIS CONSPIRACY IS DEFINITELY TRUE!!!”

So what?

“IT’S OUTRAGEOUS! IT’S ALL A CONSPIRACY!!”

And?

We all end up dead in the ground so why not spend your life putting mental energy into something worthwhile?

That said - I suppose we rely on the nutjobs to come up with the theories if we are going to take some level of entertainment from it.

At the end of the day, most of us have something where we refuse to believe the official word on something. I think everyone believes in some conspiracy theory whether it's that we're really under the influence of shapeshifting reptiles or whether you believe Sepp Blatter is lying when he said he didn't know anything about the corruption at FIFA. Now that last one is a conspiracy theory most of us believe in, but until it's proven it's still a conspiracy theory, no?

"its easier to fool somebody than convince them they've been fooled"      there will be more than a grain of truth in almost all conspiracy theories. we know nowhere near the amount of what we think we know, or indeed what we are led to believe we think "they" know. regarding fifa, you could make an educated guess that there is truth in their conspiracy, given that the rabbit hole seemingly drops deeper and deeper the more they explore
