Things you've found while at work?

Ok,

I've just cleared out an old airing cupboard ready to connect up a new boiler that's been fitted.

i ripped out the old cylinder and down behind it was two very old used ladies sanitary towels and what can only be described as a "bag of *****"

i found a bit of stick to clear the towels, but I had my suspicions what was in the plastic bag by the fact it was soft and squashy.

The question I keep asking myself is why did I have to smell it? Why?

it confirmed my suspicions anyway.

the house is empty and being refurbed    So no customers to sneer at and mutter "dirty barsteward" under my breath.

has anyone else every found any disgusting or amazing things while at work?

when I was window fitting back in the 90s, I took some Chaddite's blind off her bay window frame, my hand stuck to the tobacco stained sticky filth on the framework. The horrorbag lady was watching and said "oooh nasty, I hate that disgusting blind, it was here when we moved in, not been here long!". When I put the frame on the floor, the non-facing side of it (the side which contacts the wall/window) was exposed and had her surname and house number written on in black marker. I just gave it the raised eyebrow and looked at her. She waddled off in embarrassment, filthy cow.

Last week, I found that I was surplus to requirements.

Been for my first interview in over 4 years today.

no way. Bad times Eddie, but like myself mate, you'll pick yourself up, dust yourself down, conduct yourself the right way and before you know it, you'll be back in the game.

Good luck Eddie, are you to young to draw the OAP ?And I am genuinely concerned, not trying to be funny

Yes - 62 at the moment. There's a few contracts out there I'm chasing - too old to bother with a permanent role. Luckily some of my specialist skills are still very much in demand.

Just to set you all at ease (not that you need it), I work as an 'Employed Consultant' for a company who have sub-contracted me out to Jaguar Land Rover for the last 4 and a half years. Technically, when I leave JLR on Wednesday, I shall still be 'employed' by the parent agency (and get paid), even if I have nothing to do. This is a situation that will apply for a while (it might be a month, perhaps a little more), after which they would give me notice if they were unable to find me sub-contract work through one of their other clients. That's what today's interview was - chatting to another one of their clients. In the meantime, I will be also looking myself independently, perhaps with a view to going back contracting proper.

Not worried at the moment - in fact, I would value a month off 'between jobs'.

Thank god for that. I wouldn't have slept. I can rest easy with this knowledge.
