I've had the pleasure of running in to him a few times for a chat and he's genuinely a top bloke.

I wish him well in his playing career, but he's got plenty of scope to do stuff after. He's been on Sky a few times and he's the sort of guy that makes people want to give him a chance.

I hope he is still involved in our televised games next season, if he isn't playing.

Agreed, would be one of the more articulate and palatable pundits by some distance.  Unfortunately, he hasn't played for Liverpool or Man United so he's unlikely to get to the higher levels of TV work.

Would be much better having Barker doing all the official DCFC media stuff than Colin Gibson, who has all the personality and screen presence of a bloke from Derby called Colin.

To be fair to him , he is literally a bloke from Derby called Colin.

Really?

Isn't that what the people want from the BBC, "living the story", a local guy giving you the news.

Do you think that is all what he does at the club now. As a senior media guy, I wouldn't be surprised if he drafted most statements, releases, oversaw video production and media planned/managed all future information be it on a cooperate level or public as well as managing news flow etc...

Remember hearing Robbie Savage praise Cloughie for getting him into the BBC, obviously Nigel still has contacts and helped guide Robbie onto the TV so it wouldn't be a wild suggestion for Cloughie to help Barker as well, maybe he has with his music/clothing type side-career

I like that picture of Marcus Tudgay holding him whilst he's on the floor, even though he played for the Red Dogs I've always had a soft spot for Tudgay (probably because he never moaned when I used to kick my ball into his garden about 5 times a day as a 12 year old!), genuinely nice bloke & I believe he still lives in Derby.

I was never really sure what he did wrong to be sold to Sheff Wednesday anyway!

Yeah, he can focus on that and let someone less boring do the presenting. And he's with the club, not the BBC, I'd rather have an engaging ex-captain doing the interviews and putting his know-how of how a dressing room works to his advantage in said interviews.

I understand that you may be someone from Derby called Colin, but I'm not saying he should be fired for being tedious, I'm just saying the club YouTube could be improved. It's just like replacing Gareth Roberts with the god that is Craig Forsyth.

allegedly mrs tudgay may or may not have taken more of a shine to the manager at that time than the player himself did...if the rumours are to be believed...

I was gutted he was my favourite player at that time. Somebody could absolute fire a ball into him and he'd trap it dead every time, he was the yin to Theo Robinsons yang

Feel terrible for the bloke, really wish someone in Lg1 or 2 would give him a trial. Worked incredibly hard to be able to play football again, but i doubt anyone will take a chance on him due to age, nature of injury, likelihood of injury reoccurring, not playing competitively for several years. Very sad.

if I was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink I'd give him a trial at the very least.

These are the details of the festival. I hope people can support this good cause.

I've been to the Festival this morning and there's loads to see and do but it needs some more bums on seats and subsequently more cash for this excellent foundation.

I hope more of you can get there today or tomorrow.
