MuespachRam
Excellent assesment of the squad.... why did we struggle so badly..? ha ha.I feel guilty now moaning about this lot when i think to how bad we used to have it...Back to Yakka... he was awesome i used to love him, mainly becuase he was the most glamorous sounding person i had ever heard of and made me think that the supers were signing big international stars....rather than Ian Dalziel..... I still have my We''ll be back in 82 scarf.....!
maydrakin
My first game I saw had Banovic in goal. As a kid, I couldn't assess him as I thought all of the players were brilliant. Was particularly fond of Banovic, Emson and Barton. But then, I used to pretend I was Billy Caskey when playing football...

Alan Ramage 4 EVA
Think we had 3 keepers then Yakka ,Steve Cherry and Roger Jones.Remember seeing Yakka save a penalty at Millmoor (Ronnie w@nker Moore took it) same day as Gerry w@nker Gow broke Steve Emery`s leg John Newman was manager that day Addison had been sacked
Gaspode
I used to quite like John "Dick" Barton - though maybe he was just a cult (following) - back at the club now as Academy Operations Manager

Curtains
maybe for everton...not for us.What I mean is he was good at the standard we were playing in at the time. I don't think we had any money. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barton_(footballer,_born_1953)
Carl Sagan
Paul Emson always gets a lot of stick on fan sites, but boy was he quick. Terrified defenders with his pace - the sort of player you could hoof the ball vaguely over the defenders towards and he'd reach it 5 yards ahead of them. Sadly he couldn't always do a lot with it, but was definitely an exciting outlet.

RamNut
so in one word RamNut just how would you sum up this team ?it was soon to be saved by the arrival of a certain Mr Davison !we had some young players coming through.....cherry, blades, harbey, garnertaylor made a few good signings......futcher, gemmill, garry mills, paul hooks, bobby Davison - who was Roy Mac's suggestionSomeone signed dave watson - the england centre half.Kevin wilson and steve buckley were still performing.it went wrong when we signed calvin plummer, John Robertson, Kenny Burns and Bobby Campbell - all rubbish.(Was george foster was missing from that squad list?)Arthur cox came in and signed eric steele, charlie palmer, rob hindmarch, floyd streete, paul richardson, kevin taylor, steve biggins - who was hammered by the crowd - mickey lewis......mark wallington.we benefitted from having super scout Ron Jukes who spotted Martin Taylor, Dave Penney, Michael Forsyth, Ross McClaren, probably Jeff Chandler, Steve mcclaren.we sold kevin wilson too cheaply but signed Gary Micklewhite, Trevor Christie and Geraint Williams with the cash.finally another Roy Mac suggestion - john Gregory - and nigel callaghan, and the rest was history. He was decent at that level!didn't he live on Beaufort St in Chadd ?? Not many ex professional footballers can say they live on Beaufort St !! Or more to the point not many people living on Beaufort St can say they used to be a professional footballer, quite a few pros but not footballers !! JakartaRam
Yakka was something of a cult hero , as you never knew what he was going to do next. Sublime one match almost ridiculous the next.Finance played a big part at the time , think it was so bad we had to let Bobby Campbell go back to Bradford for free as we couldn't afford to pay the instalments. Maybe not such a bad thing.Performances of the time were pretty dire most were all blood and guts , but I think if the memory is correct we still pulled in as big if not bigger crowds than ex-European champions ha ha
