Who would you sign?

This 'deadwood' that you refer to. Which players are talking about?

If we out the entire Derby squad up for sale, I cannot see many clubs offering a deal of cash for any of them with the exception of Hughes, Martin and possibly Hendrick. The rest...I don't think we'd raise 3M collectively for the lot of them.

Clubs don't tend to pay fees nowadays and if they do, they're very small. Contracts are bought out, players are released from lengthy contracts and so on.

I cannot see Martin staying another season as he has earned his chance to play at a higher level and possibly Hughes if a Premiership club is willing to take a gamble on whether his potential will mean he'll ever become good enough to play at a higher level.

I hope we look to our youth and keep the signings to a minimum.

Brilliant...  I didn't think this thread could get much better.

We have a perfectly good player in Ivan Calero but McClaren in his wisdom stuck with Forsyth who's been useless this season. Bennett is capable up front and he's been forgotten about by McClaren too.

There have been some players I've been sad to see go over the years, mostly Shackell, Commons, Kincladze, to name a few, but I have absolutely no problem with any of the current squad going elsewhere.

As for who to bring in, a whole new defence for starters would be good as there seems to be no communication or common ground between the current line. If Hull City drop I would go for Aluko. Shackell would be a good choice also. Charlie Austin, Rob Green and Gary Hooper may all be available?

Look to the academy too, we have some bright young talent there so what's the point in investing in them and nurturing their talents if we never use them, with the exception of Hendrick of course.

:lol::lol:

Who we sign will be all dependant on who goes out and who the manager is.

Wisdom hasnt kicked a ball for WBA for god knows how long. Im sure Wisdom would junp at the chance of coming back here.

If Dyche is gaffer and we sell Hughes. Then we would need 8-10 players depending on who goes.

GK, RB, LB, CB, CM, Winger x2 and a ST.

In that order id go for Marshall, Wisdom, Targett (season long loan or as part of Hughes deal) Shackell, Karacan, Ince, Sako and McCormack.

Marshall, Wisdom, Shackell, Ince, McCormack would all command fees. Targett a loan fee unless part of Hughes deal. Karacan is on a free as is Sako.

£10 million for Hughes (I actually think we will get more than that) then maybe another £5 million from McClaren compensation and Mel Morris's bank account. So we could have £15-£20 million over the summer.

This is all a bit of fun and id be surprised of Derby signed any of them.

We will end up signing a whole host of different names that I will probably be more than happy with!

But if we had anything close to this line up. Id be very excited.....http:

Marshall, Wisdom, Keogh, Shackell, Targett, Ince, Thorne, Karacan, Sako, Martin, McCormack

Who exactly do we have in the squad that we could sell for a decent figure for then with the exception of Martin, Hughes and Hendrick?

I have said we'd struggle to get 3M for the entire rest of our squad. You seem to think that is amusing.

Answer the question.

I like a good laugh...

Byram on a free!!! Watson on a free. Cant see anyone else on that list to be honest.

Ild try get ince on a permanent if the price doesnt get out of hand. Failing that Ild love to see us go for prestons Joe Garner!

Adam Le Fondre is a good option up front or kenywyne jones. Both second fiddle to martin of course.

Most importantly we need a few more defenders, cant think of any quality CB who we could get at this minute... any suggestions?

Couple of mentions for Rohan Ince here.  It could be that a signing of that nature could allow for a tweak in formation to a 4-2-3-1 offering better protection to the back 4.  Something like this;

Grant

Shotton, Keogh, new LCB, Warnock

Thorne, Ince R

Russell, Hendrick, new wide player

Martin

This assumes that Hughes is sold, although I would prefer it If he wasn't.  To me this shows there is not a massive lot wrong and I don't feel changing 7 or 8 of the starting XI will help.

The wide player could be Ince, not sure on the LCB.

this would leave us the likes of Roos, Christie, Buxton, Albentosa, Lowe, Ward meaning that we would need a mixture of u21 players stepping up and some squad players being brought in.

If we can move on Dawkins, Bryson and Forsyth and bring in any money all the better.

Anyone know of players in the mould of Martin, Bucko, Eustace & Thorne!  Any DCFC academy products to fill in?  If not, investment was required in the market to push on this season...

We need another martin(intelligence and instinct), a stimac or two(leader and can defend), a wanchope(flair and unpredictability) and an out-and-out goal machine to ease pressure on martin!

A big man up front would add depth to compliment Martin, Ward and Russell - Tor Hogne Aaroy or Kevin Vink?

Def need a Koller type to add muscle and aerial threat - squad is small in stature, and small in size...

Even Iversen any good at the back?

Macca's network should find someone in Holland, Spain or Germany surely to bolster us?

If we had dipped into the market we would have been nailed on for top two in league!

Please not shotton at right back ever again.

Off that list I like Neil Danns and Grant Leadbitter.

3 players who have shone in the past and would be good if reviving their careers are Roger Johnson, Darren Pratley and Hugo Rodallega, not really sure how well the last 2 would fit in with our system but maybe we should be looking beyond that because, as we have seen, an inability to move away from the system can be fatal!

WTF??!!??Roger Johnson is one of the worst centrehalves going.

Like it. Pritchard on season loan would be a top signing
