Let's kick common sense out of football.

My older sisters married name is Cooney. Just took her 7 year old son into Tottenham club shop to buy the new kit, with his name on the back.

The manager came out and demanded she show him ID to prove it was his surname, as "It is racist".

Wow.

I wasn't there. My sister called me saying "You won't believe this". Sadly in this day and age where conkers are banned at school because it's dangerous, and my neice and nephew sing "Baa baa rainbow sheep", nothing surprises me.

The irony being that Yiddish was the language of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe and Germany, the decendants of which are the very Jews that inhabit Israel now.

A bit like English people getting offended by being called "Anglo", given that we were Anglo-Saxon.

I can think of far worse racist terms than 'Yid', and Spurs fans don't seem to care on the whole. It only takes one "that offends me" and all hell breaks loose.
