There seems to be a hat for every occasion yet I've never seen one of these and I've never seen Thorne wearing a hat. There's no real hat, nor even a conspiratorial hat. Its a metaphorical hat! To "wear the Derby hat", as the great lyricist said back in July, is merely to infer that George has donned the cloak, joined the club, took the oath of Sheepshaggery if you like. And its easier to rhyme with "that". And it pays homage to the original tune of "My old man's a dustman, he wears a dustmans cap". You shouldn't get your hair off over it.
