Derby County v Rangers

Thought their fans were absolutely fine to be honest. The one's just to our left were nothing more than loud, passionate and slightly drunk. There was no need to throw the smoke on the pitch really but that's an individuals choice. I don't agree with them on most of their collective ideals, being a borderline Commie who hates the Royal family, but as a vocal and colourful football support they can't really be knocked.

Anyway, other than their following, a few brilliant flashes from Hendrick, Hughes and Dawkins it was a standard run of the mill friendly workout against a team on a par with Burton Albion. Oh and the incredible flying headbutt on Martin - Madness!

As a Rangers fan, can I point out that we have now travelled in our thousands to Derby twice, and have brought nothing but a great atmosphere and a larger bank balance for your club. Yet people here seem rather ungrateful.

It's about reputation and supposed bigotry. Any incident or occurrence is bound to be blown out of all proportion by not-exactly impartial observers - because in all reality, everyone has their own axe to grind.

I personally have no problem with Rangers fans in general - then again I have no problem with Celtic fans in general either.

As one of the few Derby fans posting on this thread who could actually be bothered to go to the ground today, I should like to congratulate the Rangers fans on creating a fantastic - if somewhat one-sided - atmosphere together with impeccable behaviour before, during and after the game. The guys I chatted with were excellent.

Lose the fecking Israeli stars though.

Forsyth didn't look out of place again even at CB! He looked far better than Keogh! Dawkins has impressed me this pre season!

But we need Bucko

Eddie:

Thanks for reply. And the nice remarks. All the Gers fans I know who went to Derby for the previous game said Derby and its ground/fans were great.

I agree re the flags, in fact, I am besumed, as you never see them at Rangers games at home and away in Scotland. Why some of my fellow 'Bears' are flying them at English friendlies is odd. I can tell you most Rangers fans who have an opinion tend actually to sympathise with Palestine!. I think they may be reacting to the small amount of Celtic fans, who because of Celtic's supposed socialist stance on cultural issues, fly Palestinian flags. Its silly. If Celtic fans flew the Israeli flag, as night follows day, some silly Gers fans would fly the opposite. Its silly one-upmanship. Rather than deeply held politics. It really is sadly that reductive and simple.

Again, all the best to Derby and all the County fans here.

Watching Hughes play that CDM role today i changed my opinion. I thought he would struggle but he was brilliant today some good strong challenges and passing. Maybe he could play that role week in week out.

Also Forsyth was brilliant at centre back as well.

Phil/RLAC:

Just to clarify, I was replying to an earlier post, but botched the reply quote bit.

Phil, I will ignore the country remark, lol. No, with all due respect to Derby (a great club), this isn't a big day out for us. For us, that will be when we are back in Europe. I hope you play us at Ibrox and you will grasp what a massive club we are. I'd love to see Derby at Ibrox.

I was a little miffed, as I was lead to believe that Derby fans had welcomed Rangers fans greatly for the McMinn game, and wanted Rangers fans to return, enjoyed our party mindset and our fun, and our pro-British outlook. What I read here was a little cynical and it surprised me.

As to our play, you know we aren't the Rangers of old, of European runs and domestic success. We are and have gone through the worst years of our history (bar Jan 1971), we are rebuilding. We WILL be back, with European success and true top level players in the next few years. But we are still getting there.

I wish Derby County and its fans all the best for this season. You are a great old club, like us, with a core of Scottish history. I really hope you do well in the future, and that we see you at Ibrox as a reciprocal arrangement.

All the best.

Would love to go and play rangers at their home ground, would be fun. Great set of fans you brought down, had a talk with a few at the brunswick after the game and everyone was more than friendly, what did you read here that got you miffed mate?

Great atmosphere created by the 'gers today. A cross between the last night at the proms and a national AA day out! Good banter though and the ones I helped with directions, lost cigarettes etc were very polite and grateful.

Agree with the general comments about the game made on here....JR seemed a little off but should have scored at the end if a great move in the 1st half. Maybe I'll lend him my razor in time for next week.

Hughes once again showed his class in setting up the second - and this is one advantage of him playing CDM and attacking from deep - it makes him harder to pick up.

Good to see that we can change players and systems around and still look fair to middling - albeit in a friendly.

I've been asleep all afternoon on my sofa, and just woke up with drool round my chin. Positives of the afternoon:-

1) I have not soiled myself in the last 3 hours

2) I find we have beaten the second biggest team in Scotland rather comfortably

3) There were only 15 pages of "commentary" for me to work through, my highlight being The Abyss having a problem with streaming quality, like you would if you were indeed a deep chasm or void

4) No AmericanRam analysis

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

We're not ungrateful.

Some of us object to the disgusting politics of your loudest support.

And the fact that your club defrauded us all.
