Amongst the passengers were 20 senior staff of Freescale Semiconductors. Freescale are a US technology company that has just developed a new electronic warfare gizmo for military radar systems. Also on board were 4 of the 5 patent holders of the new processor. The patent, which was approved 4 days after the plane disappeared, is now the sole property of the remaining patent holder Freescale Semiconductors. Who owns Freescale? Does seem a bit dodgy. Can a company be the inventor though? Thought they had the be the licensees and individuals are inventors? Patent holders can alter the proceeds legally by passing wealth to their heirs. However, they cannot do so untill the patent has been approved.
