They regard the ordinary fan as a pleb who - if not redirected to the cheap seats - will get too close to the corporate elite. They want executives who will pay more for the whole corporate match day experience. Exclusive seating areas, exclusive bar areas, platinum this and diamond that. They feed off our history with their mcfarland bars and their dave mackay lounges. Access is by membership only. A meal at half time with complimentary drinks whilst the herd queue for a piss and a pie. They want the executives in their luxury boxes paying thousands a year for the privilege and their reserved parking. They want the corporates who sponsor the players, the kit, the substitutions, the ball, the match, the stands. They milk them for income whilst stroking their egos, and reinforcing their sense of superiority and self worth. This is football for the elite. The ordinary fan is just there for atmosphere - to decorate the stands and wave their scarves when instructed. You sing your songs and bounce for their entertainment.
