If he did then that makes no sense whatsoever..

'The big lesson is to play better in the second half' would suggest this has been an underlying problem for a while.. Yet 4 days ago we were woeful in the first half and much better in the second, scoring 4 goals..

Either way these footballers and pundits alike aren't exactly the brainiest bunch are they?

Maybe he thought Friday was a one off?

Prefer Wilshere tbh

In that defensive midfield role?

Wilshere would be in there somewhere for me but with the current formation Carrick would be ahead of him every time IMO. There's no better player in the squad who can sit, win the ball and distribute it as well as Michael Carrick. Wilshere is awful at DM.

"At times in these two games, we were fantastic. Tonight, we started really well.

"The big lesson is to play better in the second half. We must keep the ball better when it gets tough.

"We are getting better defensively.

"We know there is a great togetherness in the squad, and that is all that matters. We performed under tremendous pressure."

Views from Steven Gerrard..

Didn't we score 4 in the second half against Montenegro Steven?

He's right though, when we enter the second half in front, we always allow the opposition to come onto us. It was a massive complaint here at Derby as well.
