I can see the logic in Hendrick but I'd go with Ben Davies. His set piece ability always poses a threat for us so I would suggest that his ball-striking ability could come in handy from the spot.

Ward is normally reliable but I'd like to see what Davies can do.

As for Sammon. I hope that he can become our regular taker and a successful one too but for now I don't think its sensible him taking them. I love the fact that he still wants to take them and atone for errors but at the moment the fans are already on his back. He's in a bit of a 'no-win situation' because if he scores people will say "well he should be scoring" but if he misses fans get on his back even more and at this moment in time I wouldn't call it sensible to open himself up for that. Concentrate on getting into form then we'll see about penos. He never fills me with confidence - v Palace and v Leeds I was certain he would miss. I hope he finds form but for now I'd prefer to see Davies, in good form, taking them. Just my opinion though!

Martin for me.

He can strike a ball clean and true and knows where the angles are.

Other than that then Hendrick.

Can't really believe we are struggling to name players in our team who can't even strike a ball cleanly, and Sammon does seem to have real issues with his timing and striking technique in general.

So Wardy misses his first peno for Derby after scoring every single one and we should change that?

1. Ward

2. Martin

3. Davies

No - of course that's not what I'm saying but if you hadn't noticed - he's injured (and when he does play he only lasts 60 mins) - so it's a valid question. No rush with your apology mate

Not being funny as I never am but unless we've seen the full team take a few penalties how can we say who should take them? You would hope that every player in the team including Fielding could smash a ball in from the spot but as Ward and Sammon have shown its never that easy.

I'm sure they do a bit of work in training on penalties and have a list of takers. Ward was first choice, Sammon second. When Ward comes back I'm sure he will continue and look to add to his goal tally.

I think Sammon should be wanting to take them, like he did at Leeds, even though he has missed before. Shows desire in a striker to want to get more goals and end the dry spell, when Torres hadnt scored in ages and he was offered a penalty he turned it down because he didnt have the belief for it and ended up looking even worse than if he had missed.

He hasn't pulled anything, it was only tight. Should be OK to play Ipswich as he did travel to Leeds before being assessed and deemed not fit. I can understand what you're saying, but you did make out that because of his miss that he shouldn't take one. But i do apologize

Can't remember how many we took against Ssausagehorpe but it was almost the whole team by the end! Bucko's was the best by miles!

The question was only a bit of fun really but it's weird how bad strikers can be at penalties (even some of Wardy's that he has scored have only just squirmed in). You'd like to think that the strikers take them because they are the best, but in reality it's actually just a cheap way to get your goal tally up ain't it?

I would of gone for Hendrick, if he'd scored the 3 penalties in the last few games we've had, he'd be in double figures for his goal season tally, and would increase his value if a team comes in for him in the summer, which is likely.

Ben Davies

Experienced, took them at Notts and a "set piece specialist".

That would require Bavies to be a starter - which isn't all that likely unless Ward is out (or if Jacobs starts again)

So he wasn't aiming for the corner then?

He scuffed it, it wasn't even a perfect strike of the ball as he intended. I realise folk are trying to praise him where they can but that was nowhere near the perfect penalty, even if it had gone in.
