I'm sure if we try hard enough it can be proven that Sammon, joined by Cloughs tactics, are the root causes if all badness in DCFC results

i like the bloke , really , i was wumming one of 'your Gert's' earlier posts.. :D

Saw some decent penalties taken at half time, don't see what's wrong with them. Although, to be fair, Ward and Sammon haven't been faced with a goalkeeper dressed as a beer bottle.

Apart from that bloke who slipped over twice, and missed his penalties, and got soaked by the sprinklers, so left the pitch with no prize other than having missed penalties in front of a crowd at pride park, and having to have to watch the second half soaking wet and freezing cold!

Bet when he woke up he never thought his day would turn out like that!!

Scott Loach knew exactly where Ward would put the pen

their team analyst recognised Jamie hits his penalties into the bottom left with force or hits in in the centre of the goal hard.

then Jamie changed and tried to place one in the bottom right through indecision, vs Ipswich he went back to normal and didnt hit it far enough left.

It's only taken Clough 4 consecutive penalty misses to twig that he needs to "look at who will take penalties", nice to see Nige is quick on the uptake

You've excelled yourself again, I see. I bet you supported the UDM too.

If he'd hit further left their keeper would have saved with his hands instead of his feet. He needed to hit it higher.

Just get the player who can hit the ball the hardest taking them and tell him to aim for the keepers face.

I might be wrong here but I think it will be players who decide amongst themselves who is the best option. It's about who fancies it the most. There's got to be a volunteer.

You know what? I think it'll take some amazing amount of persuasion to tell Jamie he's not taking another.  He's the senior member of the striking dept and I'd fancy he's argumentative enough to stand up for himself within the squad and brave enough to step up again. He wants to score goals. He'd scored three from the spot I think before he missed?

If NC insists that it's right to take it away from Jamie (and risk p-ing him off)  and then If we get another one this season I'd be amazed if the next penalty taker isn't Chris Martin.

He's a confident enough lad and he strikes the ball cleanly.

As a striker, I can't see him letting one of the midfielders near the ball and as a his manager was a penalty taking centre forward I'd expect Nigel to go with him over the second choice which for me would be Hendrick.

By the way, I know we've missed the last four but isn't it refeshing that we're actually getting a few penalties this season. I'm positively seeing that as a sign that our attacking threat is growing.

I propose that like in American football we have a dedicated field goal or penalty taker, if and when we get a further penalty one of the team is substituted to make way for this specialist then gets substituted again after the successful spot kick.

Are you looking for a bite?

Use two out of the three subs for a penalty?

Laugh? I thought my pants would never dry.

Good idea though, no? Thinking outside of the box, no pun intended. Can't be any worse then what we're doing at the moment anyway.

Great point.

One willing volunteer is woth a dozen conscripts.

Derby players have got into the slough of fear of missing penalties and are probably scared stiff of missing.

This is the same frame of mind which pervades the premiership where the fear of relegation destroys otherwise good players.

If players decided among themselves who would take a penalty the player most "up for it" would probably make a better job of scoring.

Chris Martin could do with getting a few goals anyway to get some confidence back. We don't want yet another non-goalscoring forward.

Fondly remember when we had no strikers available at all under Phil Brown and we had to resort to playing the then assistant manager of Dean Holdsworth upfront so having a forward at all is quite a luxury :)
