Who was the last striker we had who DIDN'T divide fans opinion?

The threads about the last striker who was an instant success, Sammon/Theo is rubbish/brilliant etc got me thinking..

When was the last time we had a decent, consistent centre-forward who DIDN'T divide fans opinion?

And I mean a PROPER centre-forward (ie don't just say Jamie Ward)

Sammon – divided fans

Robinson – divided fans

Hulse – divided fans with lots of allegations of laziness

Howard – took a long time for him to start scoring but even then he divided fans

Rasiak ?

Any combination of Hector, O'Hare, Hinton, George, Lee & even Roger Davies -however these guys were all brilliant in (old) Division 1 winning or contending championship teams not merely mediocre in mid-table nether region championship.

In more recent years Saunders/Goddard formed a good partnership -Baino/Wanchope & Sturridge burned brightly as a partnership -Bobby Davidson/Phil Gee even more recently I liked Howard, Hulse, Commons (not out & out), Steve Davies & Kuqi,

Sammon I consider to be absolute garbage in every single aspect of his game and comparable only to Mikhel Beck.
