Day
True, would make a few quid on eBay but if we're giving Sir titles out willy nilly why not give one to him? Or is it because the media hype around him isn't as great?
Pearl Ram
Isn't his knighthood more to do with being the first British man to win the Tour de France as opposed to his olympic victory. ? I think he's a bit up himself personally but fair do's, nipping round France quicker than anybody else deserves a bit of recognition.
ladyram
He might get one if he sticks around for another 60 years. Until then, no cigar.

LeedsCityRam
And the award for campest picture shoot of 2012 goes to:- http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/12/28/article-2254321-0153266C00000514-444_306x423 It was an ironic pose in the style of Winston Churchill as he was (rightly) embarrassed by the OTT Gold Medal winning throne. As to why he deserves a knighthood? Well Im not a massive fan of the honours system either but a host of track medals over 3 Olympics & the first ever British winner of the Tour de France is frankly an outstanding career. The Paul Scholes argument doesnt really work - albeit a fine player (& criminally misused by England), he was part of an exceptional team at domestic level for his entire career. His international career was also pretty ordinary - even though much of that wasn't his fault. Wiggo's sport is individual in nature & hence he deserves way more credit. The bloke is a legend in my opinion.

eddie
I have no objection to sportsmen receiving gongs for lifetime achievements, but I feel it's a dangerous precedent knighting someone for having a bloody good year in their chosen sporting field - all right, in Wiggins's case, an unprecedented exceptional year. We are moving closer and closer to Warhol's '15 minutes of fame'. What next - an MBE for winning Come Dancing?
ladyram
I haven't got anything against him getting an award, but why make someone else wait 60 years for doing something more important? That's the bit I don't understand. What makes Bradley Wiggins or any of the Olympians any better than the old guy saving us from a longer WW? Nothing, because he isn't any better. But to be fair, I'm sure Wiggo being the man he is, doesn't think of himself any better either.
