It’s a position where we clearly need to recruit and Oduroh looked promising, albeit judged on 45 mins. Definitely a very credible option though.

I totally agree. I think we need two right backs though the season. Someone with experience and then someone like Oduroh with raw talent who will only get better and progress.

Hopefully he wouldn't have big wage demands neither.

It was a fair observation by big bad ram, surprised and disappointed so many felt the need to pass comment/criticise and it cracks me up when people throw ‘woke’ in.. let’s all tar everything with the same brush and ridicule and demean it shall we?

Shall we bring back Ron Atkinson, Richard Keys and Andy Gray - proper football people who said it like it is

100% the poster was only pointing something out to help educate people. We have educate people to try and progress as a society.

We all know B4 didn't mean any offence though and didn't want to upset anyone. Time to stop attacking each other and get back to talking football.

I liked the look of him and think he could be a good addition to the sqaud. We need right backs and he looked promising!

This is it, they’re quite similar depending on defensive shape in the most part. 442 is a little archaic at this point, there’s a reason very very few teams play it these days.

They are and can be easily changed through out the game to depending on the pattern of play. I feel 442 is too rigid and doesn't get best out of the likes of Sibley, Hourihane and even Knight.

3 wingers was enough the year we got to Wembley (Dawkins, JR, Wardy) so imo if we keep Knight we are fine as there is always a youngster who could step up (Richards maybe). If Knight goes (v likely) there are bound to be some great options at bargain prices.

I'm assuming CKR will be staying. If that's the case we should go as we are and if an opportunity to pick up another striker then all well and good.

Not sure what the reserve options for GK are but I thought one of the young lads is a hot prospect??

Fozzy at this level will be solid. He stays LB is sorted. Again bound to be backup somewhere in the squad.

    RB is the concern.......

    Shopping list as things stand:

    Defo RB

    Maybe winger & a striker

    Re-sign Fozz

If we resign CZR I don't think we need another CF as we will have McGoldrick as our first choice centre forward and then two very different strikers in CZR and Stretton for coverage. We can't keep 4 CF's happy with game time if we only play one up top.

Again decent player but our squad not looking too balanced. Have five centre backs, about the same same centre mids. Really need to look at full back positions next, and another striker. More cover out wide too.

I agree. I think we need to look to add at full back and another winger before adding in any more central midfielders (unless Bielik and Knight are off).

With 7 subs and being able to make 5, I think we need 3 first team strikers ahead of Stretton & Cybulski. If 1 of our forwards got injured I wouldnt fancy a goal from Cybulsi or Stretton coming off the bench. Can never have too many goalscoring options.

We have to take into account squad cohesion as team spirit. If we play with 1 centre forward then we can't have three centre forwards who all expect regular first team football.

One more centre foward for me with Cybulski and Stretton being back ups.

Completely agree, would be a deve t back up. For our style of playing out from the back there arent too mamy better academies to be coming from than Citys. Looked very comfortable on the ball

I agree from what I have seen of him.

  8. I think he would be a solid signing and would feature in the first team from time to time (as back up/competition for a more experienced right back). I think we will need two rights backs throughout the season and see no reason why he couldn't be one of them.

I still think we're a good 8 players short and that's without anyone going really.

    I think we need:-

    1 keeper

    2 right backs

Left back (Should be ok if Forsyth stays)

Midfielder (Not a chance we aren't losing one)

1/2 winger. We've only got NML and Barkhuizen there. Need more options.

2 strikers. We've got Mcgoldrick and hopefully Collins and then one more should be ok. I'm not sure Stretton is quite there yet and I'm absolutely certain Bartosz isn't.

It's a hard balance having enough sqaud depth but also not getting too many new bodies in it affects the sqaud cohesion and so everyone has game time.

We certianly need another goal keeper so we have come competition and coverage incase of an injury to Wildsmith.

A couple of right backs are also needed (hopefully Fozzy resigns can be the starting left back). Maybe we will sign up the young right back on trail today as seemed to do well? If Fozzy signs up, could Grewall-Pollard and Roberts provide coverage for LB?

If Bielik is off we should look to get another balling winning midfielder. If Knight goes I think in CAM we will be fine with Sibley and Hourihane.

We should get another another wide man as well, I agree. But I think one should be enough as we have others who can player there. Could Glover be good enough to feature in the first team?

I don't think we need two more centre forwards when we have Stretton and Cybulski. I'd like more centre foward though with a proven record.

Kwaku Oduroh looked promising at RB. I'd offer Fozzy a contract tomorrow. Ryan Glover could deffo be one for the U21s... take or leave the others on today's performance. It is only our first friendly though.

RB ex from Man City 7/10

    Wide - Ryan Glover  7/10

    CB   Jake Rooney 6/10

    CMF  Kevin MacDonald 4/10

The first 3 are worthy of deals especially if we are losing Bryne at RB.

Craig Forsyth needs a new contract

    Ex man city impressed me.

Thanks for reviews/feedback on the trialists as I didn't manage to watch the game.

Sounds like Oduroh and Glover are exciting prospects who may be worth giving a deal too. Especially Oduroh is we don't currently have a senior right back.

    Roberts too.

I think we’ll see more additions but the season is about to start and Rosenior needs to see what he’s currently got and then add/change where needed.

We seem very light at full back positions, especially as that’s where we’ve been quite strong in recent seasons. Another goalie is ideal to provide competition. Another striker that is different from McGoldrick and Stretton would be useful too.

I suspect we might look at finding some younger players (academy or out of contract) to fill the outfield spots. We’ve got some good academy prospects for wide attacking areas that might be seen today.

I think another GK and full backs are a must. Then we can try and take stock and see where we need to add to the sqaud through the loan market.

Absolutely fantastic news to get Davies contract renewed. Proved last season he’s still a damn good Championship player over a full season, which is amazing at his age. Could’ve easily got a Championship contract as a squad player. But he decided to stay here, play football, and try to achieve something - because that’s the sort of man he is. A true Derby hero in my eyes for what he’s given the club over the years, in difficult times. One of my favourite Derby players ever.

Will be an unreal defender in League One, even at his age. Can rotate him, Chester and Cashin to keep everyone fit. Really don’t see where Roberts fits in now though, with Stearman as emergency cover.

That's the only thing I don't understand where Roberts will now fit in. Surely we don't need 5 CBs?

Roberts could also be our LB cover. Stearman, Davies and Chester may be doing part-time coaching work for their badges. Extra cover makes a bit of sense tbh

I didn't think about the three doing part time coaching work to be fair. I know Stearman can also play RB at a push (although is much more natural at CB).

    Totally agree.

I think the reason people are going mad with the 3 at the back formations is because we have depth in central defence.

I personally prefer the 433 better for our sqaud. Just feels a bit weird signing Stears up again today and to then possibly add another CB tomorrow.
